LICKORISH, We stvllle, Clifton Road, Sutton Coldfield, writes:—" I should like to testify to the immense amount of good Phosferine has done me. Having a lot of brain work and worry I very easily get run-down, and suffer from sleeplessness, in fact, for nearly eight years I scarcely knew what it was to get a night's rest, and was becoming a physical wreck. I tried many things, but nothing gave me relief until I tried Phosferine. After the first bottle I slept better, my nerves were stronger, and I could eat and enjoy my food. After taking a few doses of Phosferine I feel as fit as a fiddle, and I have also derived great benefit from it for Rheumatism, and it does all and more than is claimed for it. I am constantly recommending Phosferine to fellow sufferers who have also found great benefit from it, in fact, it's our family medicine chest." ICHAMPIONSHIP BOWLS.
I CHAMPIONSHIP BOWLS. KSUIT OF SWANSEA LEAGUE SINGLE- HANDED TOURNAMENT. The final of the single handed tourna- ment inaugurated this season by the Swansea Bowling League was played at the Victoria Greeu on Tuesday evening between Mr. T. S. IIebden (Brynmill) and Mr. S. Shepherd (Mumbles, formerly of Pantyjrwydr). The contestants had been fully tested before qualifyi tig for the tinal. T S. llcbùCll having vanquished J. Inch (Salisbury), T. Jugant (Jersey), W. Morgan and A. Shapton (l'anty- gwydr), and H. Rees (Morriston). while Sam Shepherd had defeated S. Palmer (Y.M.C.A..)..r. Graddon (Victofia), ('apt. Xosworthy (ilantygwydr), W. Griffiths (Park Llewelyn) and T. J. Allen. The Vietoria Green was in excellent condi- tion, but it was apparent that the players had been given an area hetwen the rinks. The bowling was splendid, and was worthy of a fipal carrying with it the championship of Swansea and District, T. S. Hebden was the first to get off the mark, but at the 3rd end the scores we re (level at 3 all. Prom this stage, the totals i of the players were never far separated, and at the 13flt and 19th ends honours jwere even. As the gamp approached com- ??ction interest iBcreased. and at the 1.oiIIIf "'V' 24th end T. S. Hebden led by 1 shot on a total of 17. The finish seemed likely to be a close one, but the 25th end brought the game to a sudden conclusion, as T. S. Hebden gained four counters, raising his total to 21, outpointing his opponent by 5 shots.. Both players bowled extremely well, II the drawing and cutting evoking greatj applause from the spectators on the bank.j Driving was rarely resorted to, but in this the players wore not quite so success- t'ul. T. S. Høbden's longer experience (If the gameproved of great value, and as a tactician iu guardiug and placing his | woods in position he was superior to his! opponent. Sam Shepherd, however, j played some beautiful drawing shot-, and on a couide of occasions cut his I opponent's woods out when in a goud position. The champion is a member of the Brynmill Club, and was the first cap- tain. before a number of players migrated to the Bryn-road greea. During this period the Brynmiil Club won the Alderman Lee Cup un two ocea-j sions. T. S. Hebden has always been in i the van of local bowlers, and won out-1 right the Brynmill championship cup, and also had the honour of leading the English team in the first inte'rnalionaj tourney tor the Lden trophy.fr, Keb- deu is the present chairman of the Swan- j gea Bowling League.

CAME-KEEPES'S POT-SHOT.I
CAME-KEEPES'S POT-SHOT. I IX-PUCIIIST'S REMARKABLE ESCAPE AT NEATP. About six o'clock on 'J'nesday evening, a man named Joe White. living at 17, Osborne-street, Neath, had a miraculous escape from death whilst sleeping in a ditch on the GDoll Estate. It appears that Gamekeeper "Phillpots was patrolling the grounds, and shut at a passing rabbit in a field above the Lower l'ond. Running to the spot with the intention of picking up the rabbit, the gamekeeper heard a groan, and look- ing round saw White in the ditch wrig- gling among the undergrowth in intense pain. The full charge of the shot had found a human target, and in White's back v/ere lound 70 to SO pellets. Dr. Evans was immediately telephoned for, and the injuries were temporarily at- tended to, and White was removed in. a cab to his house, where some of the pellets were extricated. From a statement made by the game- keeper, he was about 25 yards away from White when the shot was tired, and the latter, who was sleeping in the ditch, was completely hidden by the undergrowth. The injuries are confined to White's back and left arm, and fortunately are not considered dangerous. It is interesting to note that Joe White has been a famous boxer, and it was he that Freddy Welsh, the world's light- weight champion, first conquered in his I' .judden rise to fame.
