The following has been oiiicialiy com- municated :— 3.0 p.m. Tho British troops yM?'rday recap-'I tured tue two portions 01 trenches which they had lost the day before between tit. ijioi and the Ypree Caial. ■ Along the French front the day (Mon-J (iar) was calm on the whole. No in-1 tVtntry actions are reported, and the particularly important successes of our arailery are conhrmtd. 11:0 The following was official4- comrnum-j rated r- On the whole of the front the day has j l-.ocn favourable for u». In Belgium Lucre has. been an artillery com bat. The French air squadron has bora- bnrded tho German aviation park at Cinstellcs. The English squadron hasi bombarded Ostend. 1.4 t ISI-I To the south of Ypres the British artiiy is master of a certain number or trendies where for two days some lively lighting has taken place. Between tho Ouise and the Aiane, near Vailly, the fire of our artillery on several bivouacs and motor convoys has been very cifective, and bombs have thrown. In the sector of Rhcims we have pro- gressed in Loivre. In Champagne, from the front, which "Xtends from the north-west of Perthes to the north of Boausejour, we have carried about three kilometres of Ger- nlan trenches and made several hundred rs. GERMAN. AMSTERDAM, Tuesday. A communique issued by the German Nfain Headquarters says:— In the western theatre we repulsed at- :acks made on the trenches which we look from the English at St. Eloi. Other- wise there is nothing significant to re- port. On and beyond the East Prussian frontier the fighting is assuming a very II favourable course. In Poland, north of the Vistula, after l a brief fight, we occupied Bielsk and I Flock, and took about 1,000 prisoners To the south of the Vistula in Poland tlicre is nothing to report. [St. Eloi lies three miles to the south of Ypres.] BERLIN, Tuesday. Main Headquarters reports: In the Eastern theatre of the war the battles in pursuit and those on both ides of the East Pruscirm frontier are "king a further very favourable course, j 111 Poland, north of the Vistula, we have | occupied Plotzk after a short engage- mcnt. About 1,000 prisoners fell intoi our hands. In Poland, south of the Vistula, nothing of importance has hap- ;'en?d. Tho most adventurous rumours l of immeasurable losses of the German: in the battles east of Bolimow, in the hc?mning of February, have been pub- 11S('d in the foreign Press. It is now .iicortained that the German losses in ihese battle in comparison with the re- .ults obtained are small. Vienna: Fighting in the Carpathians is again in full swing. In south-east Galicia, Nadworna has been occupied. Tho enemy has been driven back in the direction of Stanislau. The H Netiee Wiener Tag-blatt.. states that Eukowina is quite free from the enemy. Only near Czernowitz are the Russians entrenched. The Russians have evacuated the town of Czernowitz, as further fighting is ex- pected. It is reported from Wirko:7 that fhe Russians have commenced the retreat from Kolomea. The damage done by the Russians in Gura-Homora, Ead- on tz, and Kimpolung is enormous. The 'Pester Lloyd" reports from the Carpathians that the strong offensive which the Austro-Hungarian troops have commenced in the Dukla Pa;-« is every- where working successfully. The enemy Is suffering enormous losses. In a single attack during the last few days the Russians left on their retreat 1,200 killed unburied on the field. The total losses of the enemy in the battles on the Dwkla Pass of the past few days must be calculated at 50.000 men'at least in killed and injured.—German Wireless.
