SWANSEA. A large number of local people visited Ehe different places in Gower during the fceek-end. The members of the Argyle Juvenile Tent of Rechahites had tl-,(tii- annual out- ing on Saturday. The party was conveyed in brakes to Bishopston, where an enjoy- ible day was spent. The full list of contributions to the Swansea Hut Fund, published to-day, is a striking testimony to the generosity of Swansea people. The list is representative of all classes in the town. Private W. Ash ford, of 3:3, Trafalgar- terrace. Swansea, of the R.F.A.. has ar- rived home after ]8 months' service in the Army- He enlisted shortly after the out- break of war. Previous to enlisting he was a wood carver. Morris Thomas, aged 72, of Owens-lane, Ystalyfera, was admitted to the Swansea Hospital on Sunday suffering from self- inflicted injuries to his throat. He wae attended to by Dr. Thomas, and now lies in a serious condition. A day at the Mumbles is not always an unmixed blessing. This, at least, was the impression formed hy a Swansea man who. on arrival home on Sunday evening, sunburnt and tired, found that some of his neighbours' boys had been over his garden wall and stripped his apple trees. A Swansea family have for some months had a desire to visit a certain town on the East. Coast, but the district being one to which enemy aircraft, have paid much attention, the projected visit has been postponed many times. Last week, how- ever, it wa.s decided that the present time appeared opportune to embark on the great adventure."
