-LLANWRTYD -WELLS.I
LLANWRTYD WELLS. The discharged soldiers from Swansea are still busy, and have held concerts at Victoria Wells Hall during the week. They have had some very talented ar- tistes to aefcist them, and the Boys them- selves also contributed. Through the kindneee of Mr. Jenkins (Brighton House), and Mr. A. J. Phillips (Tregam- mon Farm, Pern.), the boys had a beauti- ful drive to Beulah, where they were en- tertained to tea.
BRYNAMMAN. I
BRYNAMMAN. I Brynamman are giving a good account of themselves at this year's National Eis- teddfod again. Although they did not capture the premier honours in the chief choral, they came n?ar doing the deed this time again. I worxW whether we ( are going to have a repetition of the Swansea National sequence. Cardiff were awarded the first prize' then and Bryn- amman second. But a few months after- wards Cnniiff and Brynamman met at Cardigan, and the Swansea doubts were cleared off the r-it? by Brynamman win- nin^ hand", down. A similar incident oc- curred between Bryna-mman e.- d Mid- II Rhondda at Rhymney.
! PEMBROKE DOCK. !
PEMBROKE DOCK. At Pembroke Dock County Court—be- fore Judge Lloyd Morgan—.Messrs. Man- ning and Cooke, tailors and drapers, sued Alfred Grieve, a traveller formerly in their employ, for damages in lieu of notice. It appeared that Grieve one day informed Mr. Manning that he was going into the Dockyard the following day, and did eo without any notice. His Honour in giving judgment for plaintiff for -&2 anfl costs, said that employers equally with employes must be protected from in- conveniences caused by happenings of this sort.
CARMARTHEN. I
CARMARTHEN. I Eleven fat cattle and 810 fat sheep were graded at Carmarthen Mart on Wednes- day. There were 19 branded calves and 21 rearing calv>es, which met with a fair demand. The 30 cows and calves on offer were not quite as sharp a trade as in the previous week, and four were returned unsold. The highest price was £1)0, three or four made from cBoO to < £ 54- and the majority of the others over ??. A few store cattle met with a good trade, all the lots being sold. There was a bifj inquiry for store lambs, There were 230 fat sheep and 13 fat 'j cattle gt the Mart at St. Clear's. Store I cattle numbered 48. and met with a good demand. There were 20 cows and calves, about 30 store sheep, and 40 rearing and branded calves.
AMMANFORD.II
AMMANFORD. II Gratification was exnresaed on all hands when it became known that the town choir had secured third place in the chief choral contest at Neath, and the conductor (Mr. Gwilym R. Jones) was warmly congratulated upon the achieve- ment. This was the choir s initial ven- ture in the National arena, and it is note- worthy that upon the Welsh piece they received the highest number of marks awarded. Although the Ammanford Phil- harmonic Choir (Mr. J. Harries-Thomas) did not have the good, fortune to be so highly placed, they had the consolation or "arrying off the throe guinea prize given for good marshalling. The parties in the Carmarthenshire teachers' dispute having agreed to arbi- tration, schools will re-assemble on Mon- day next, but Amman Valley teachers are protesting, as the school managers have fixed the summer holidays to end August 31st.
