Councillor Roberts returned half the value of the tankard to the fund. The Britonferr/students' bowling green was played on for the first time this sea- son when a match wais played between the homesters and Port Talbot, the latter winning by 17 points. Another cricket match "was played on the steelworks ground, Britonferry, on Saturday between the hciiicstera and the Working Meiivs Club team. The steel- workers who batted first, scored 66, to which the club responded with 81.

They wrote last month to the company asking what steps they proposed to taJce to house these people. At Monday's Council meeting it was re- ported that the secretary of the Steel Works had replied that it appeared to them to, be a matter for' the attention of the District Counail. lie added, how- ever. that the company would give any assistance they could. Beyond that they did not propose taking any action. The Surveyor was asked to prepare a plan of a, suitable area for town planning purposes and report to the next committee uieetinsr. Hugh Edwards, M.P., had been unanimously selected to contest the seat at the nest election. Mr. Edwards addressed ilif dele- gates. After referring to his political associations with the district as the mem- ber for Mid-Glamorgan, ho said ho hoped that Liberal fidelity wouLd continue un- broken in the Neath Division. As to demobilisation after war, a scheme should be devised of gradual demobilise- j tion, determined by the demands of revjr. ing industries rather than by the mere convenience of the officials at the War Office.
