Today's International
Today's International -I England v Wales This, the first of the season's Rugby internationals, was decided at Twicken- ham to-day under favourable conditions. Enormous interest was aroused by the classic fixture, and heavy excursion trains from Wales arri ved in the Metropolis during the morning. The Welsh team, as announced, underwent one change, Willie Watts, the Llanelly captain, tak- ing the place of Geen in the centre. The Scarlets were led by the Rev. Alban Davies, Llanelly's new recruit from Swan sea. Half-time: ENGLAND 5. WALES 4. Final: ENGLAND 10 WALES 9. Half-time: BARRY 1 goal. NEW DOCK STARS. I The Seconds met the New Dock Stars at Stradey this afternoon. In the first half the Stras scored through Harding Evans and Llew Bennett, one of the tries being converted. The feature of the match, However, was the brilliance of Harry Llewellyn at inside half for the Seconds in the second half. Llewellyn is in College in London, and has had in- vitations to play for the London Welsh. The Llanelly committee could well do with his services during holiday games, and certainly after his display to-day, he deserves recognition. Final: New Dock Stars 1 goal 1 try Seconds 0.

The Rugby Controversy —0-—
The Rugby Controversy — 0- — Letter from the League Secretary. 'With reference to the action of the ) League committee in ignoring the cup competition run by the First, Mr. Tom Jenkins, the League Secretary favours us with the following communication:— "I regret that "Rip" should have been so upset by the news given in the League notes of tho "Star" last Satur- day. Does he not think he was himself a little premature in accusing the League officials of jealousy. I would be much obliged were "Rip" to attend our meet- ings occasionally then he could make him- self fully aware of our reasons for the action which we have taken. Moreover we as officials cannot force teams to join the competition if they do not wish to do so. As a matter of fact we as offic- ials would be only too pleased to see them joining as they would tnus relieve us of considerable responsibility in pur- chasing medals. As is well known at present we are not in a financial posi- tion to buy the medals and we are re- lying upon the competition to pay its own way. We have no wish to oppose the Firsts at all, nor to do anything detrimental to the Rugby code. I may say, by the way, that we have invited Mr. Bailey to attend our meeting tonight to hear our objections and I hope that at any rate he will see to it that the Llanelly committee send a represetative. The result of this meeting I hope will be the solution of the difficulty."

I Judge and Welsh Cases
Judge and Welsh Cases CARMARTHENSHIRE WILL SUIT. In the Chancery Division on Friday (before Mr. Justice Eve) counsel applied on behalf of James Hughes, the plaintiff in the action of Hughes v. Hughes, to restrain the defendant, Mrs. Margaret Hughes, of Pontygollen, Trimsaran, from selling the real estate left by her hus- band, Isaiah Hughes, who died intestate. Counsel for the plaintiff said that the defendant was the administratrix of the estate, and the plaintiff was the heir-at- law. Mr. Tyldesley Jones (for the defendant) intervened to say that there was a dis- pute as to the existence of a certain debt, and until that had been determined his client could not go on with the sale. He was prepared to give an undertaking not to sell meanwhile, and suggested that the case should be remitted to the county court. The whole estate was worth only JE230. The parties came from Wales, and there would be a great conflict of evi- dence, while the parties would also want to cross-examine each other. His Lordship: That is true of every case that comes from Wales (laughter). If you will give the undertaking I will send the action to the county court. Mr. Jones: It shall go to the county court held at Llanelly. His Lordship: Very well. I hope the registrar has got the name (laughter). Counsel: We will see that he gets it correctly (renewed laughter).
