Ux- Tolm Legg, of Nelson-street "the Qneea of song's practical sanitarian," as he is described 4Q the Htudwarpman, has a new boon on. He has just received from America a consignment of heat-with some of the latest con- trrvuaces tor the scientific diffusion of heat through dwelling houses. Until quite recently there were but two methods adopted for obtain- ing warmth in the rooms of a maumon--the open grate, and the system of hot-water pipins; The grate with its cheering brightness is likely always to,, retBOtn an insfetterticm in English homes, but as a heating apparatus it is open to the objec- tion that it is dniScoit to regTilate the warmth, and so secure aa equable temperature, whilst again* the old system of bot-wrster pipes, there is to be set the disadvatrtage that they are cum- brous, cnsghely, and difficult to manage.
