I THE POPULATION OF CHESTER. According to the Census of 1891 the population within the municipal boundary was ^7,105, as com- pared with 86,794 in 1881, or an increase of ;ll. Ihe population within thc Parliamentary bottiidarv which embraces Hoole and several outlying districts, Wi'f > ,2y2T7' '9 against 40,972 in 1881, or an increase of 13:!5. In the Chester Castle sub-district there was an increase of 129 in the municipal boundary, the population being 19,429, as against 19,300 in 1881 while within the Parliamentary boundary of this sub-district, the 1101mlation was 19,713 as against 19,570, an increase of 173. There was an increase of 54 in the municipal population of the Cathedral sub- district which was 17,548; while the population witlnn the Parliamentary "boundary stood at 19,846, as against 19 792 in 1881, being an increase of 51-. Part of the Hawarden sub-district, also within the Parliamentary boundary of Chester, had a popula- tion of 904.
