! PEMBREY MANAGERS. I
PEMBREY MANAGERS. I Two Schools to be Lowered to I Grade I. Pembrey sckool managers met on Sat- urday, Mr. W. Edwards, Pembrey, pre- siding. The Education Committee wrote that tha Burrvport Infant School was now re- duced to Grade I.. as the attendance had fallen. A long discussion ensued, and a letter read from Miss Edwards, the head mistress, stating that the low attendance was, owing to an epidemic. re- solved unanimously to ask the Com- mittee to allow the school to reiiiaiii in the same Grade. The clerk read a letter from the Inspec- tor of Schools that he had visited the Buriyport Infants' School. Tho discip- line was excellent, the teaching excellent-, and he had never eeen a better conducted school. Mr. D. Evans: And this is the school the Education Committe-e want to be lowered. A further letter stated that the Pcm- brey Mixed School was reduced to Grade I. A Pembrey manager said that the headmaster had to teach Standards 4. 5, 6, and 7, and ex-7, himself, and the teachers were changed so often fhat Mr. Stroud had no real assistance. It was resolved to ask the Committee to allow the school to remain in the same Grade, and to ask the two local represen- tatives on the Education Committee to take the matter up. The Board of Education wrote refus- ing TO alter their decision, namely, to al- low Mrs. Simcox to continue as head- teacher at Pembrey Infants' School, as she had reached the age limit. The Education Committee are now ad- vertising for a successor to Mrs. Simcox. Miss Rachel Davids was appointed un- certificated teacher at Trimsaran School. Mr. W. Hopkins complained that the children played at the playground at Pwll outside school hours. Tlie Rev. R. E. W illiaras: The play- ground ought to be open at ail times for children to play. It was resolved to ask the Education Committee to asphalt the playground at Trimsaran School, similar to the PÙJ'" gw.un(i_ at,.pe nlbre_v and Burrvport.
