IT.F.'s FUTURE.I
I T.F.'s FUTURE. I A Large Force For Wales. I Recent discussion in regard to the uturo of the 6th Welsh adds local in- merest to statements at a meeting of the L'lamorgan Territorial Association held i -it Cardiff on Thursday. Colonel Joseph Tiskell, who presided, explained the operation by which the ordinary three years' life of the Association had been prolonged to the end of the month by die War Office because of the war. The wet was that the old Association was j ) now expiring. They would now, for the new Association, have to nominate 30 military member;, out of the total mem- bership oi 08. There would be 12 repre- sentative members, elected by Council; of Glamorgan, Cardiif, Swansea, Mer- chyr, and the College, and l(j co-opteu members, of whciu t'.vo must be repre- I sentatives of labour, and 4 rep^esenta- live of the employers of labour. The following were elected to be the JO military members of the new Asso- ciation i'eomanry, Col. Gerald Bruce, Col. John Nichol] aii-d Col. the Hon. Odo Vivian; Royal Horse Artillery, Major T. J David, H.F.A., Col. J. Gaskell, Col. J. C. Gaskell, Col. H. T. filling, and Col. J. Henry; Royal Garrison Artillery. Col. J. J. Handcock and Maj A. P. Carey Thomas; Royal Engineers, Col. J. Arthur Hughes, Aiajor T. A. Trane and Capt. F. R. Hybart; In- fantry, Col. A. P. James, Coi. W. D. Tvic; Col. M. Moigan, Col. J. E. Thomas, Col. Cecil Wilson, Major W. Dowdeswell and Major J. R. tiibbon; Royal Army Serivce Corps, Col. H. M. Hunter, Capt. E. H. Davics and Capt. F. W. Randell; Royal Army Medical 'Jorps, Col. E. Teniscn Collins, Col. A. filoyd Jones, Col. J. Arnallt Jones, Col. Ewen J. Maclean, Jilajor H. T. Samuel, Major C. R. White and Capt. D. E. Evans. I THE FUTURE. The Chairman in the course of discus- sion said that they were still to a certain extent in the dark with regard to the future Territorial organisations in the district, but they had applied for a divi- sion for Wales which should be wholly a Welsh Division. A division to-day would not be what it was in 1914, but would be 22,000 instead of 18,000. Such a divi- r sion would not be on all fours with the old division. For instance it was not unlikely that the Yeomanry would be re- duced in numbers, and it was possible that the cyclists' would be done away with altogether in favour of a machine- gun unit-a unit that any man might be proud to command. In moving the adoption of the balance sheet the Chairman said that it showed that they had carried on during the year as ordered, and had been spending all their surplus funds, and now they found themselves with liabilities of £ 328 more than their assets. They had a claim against the Government for between £7,000 and £ 8,000—their surplus at the outbreak of the war, which the Govern- ment had promised should be restored to them. Of the surplus that had been spent by order of tho authorities, a sum of £ ,9,791 hfid been incurred on the Volunteers who had stepped into the breach during the war, and had per- formed at a very useful function.
