Morriston Effort. | • I It is lass that a fortnight ago that a meeting was held at Morriston and an appeal made on of the Widows and Orphans' Christmas Fund. biuco then event4 have mored rapidly, as evidenced hr the concert provided by the Plasmarl Schoolboy Minstrels and the Gwalia Male Voice Party at the Tabernacle School- room on Saturday evening. Long before the-concert started the schoolroom was packed to overflowing. To meet the ticket holders and others Tho failed to gain admission on Saturday evening, a repeat performance will be ffiraa. In the course of a ehort address, be expressed his pleasure I in seeing such a large audience. The fame of the Gwalia Party and the good work of the flasmarl Schoolboy Minstrels were in themselves big attractions, but there was something else that prompted them to be present that evening. They desired to show their gratitude to those who bad gone and left someone behind. la Morriston alone there were 70 widows ?B? 150 dpend.ntS. We could do nothing for the dead. The timp for the arranging of the concert I had been very short, nevertheless the reopens* had been magnificent, and was I iust like Morriston. THE PROGRAMME. I The Gwalia Male Voice Party (con- ductor, Mr. (iomer Williams), which has gttmed a great reputation during the past few months in eisteddfodic circles, opened the concert with an excellent rendering of Crossing the Plain," and later gave a very effective lendering of The Martyr, of the .A. rena, both efforts being loudly applauded. The rest of the programme was contri- buted by the Plaamarl Schoolboy Minstrels, who delighted the audience by their all-round clever display. Cadbury's works at Bournvilic adopted the annua! report '?1 baJuncw- sheet, which showed the accumulated fnnch at the end of the year ..mounted to £ 369,651, as against £ 307,575 at the end tf the previous year. The total received in :t«er?st and dividends on invested funds m the year amounts to, tlt,937, and the total amounv paid in pensions to X'2,61 i. As the fiind is comparatively young (it was started in 1908) the number of pensioner* is only 27 in the central fund and 18 in the war relief section. During the year this amount, ,£3i,800 was invested in this amount, £ 27,S00 was invested in British Government Securities. Owing to r the exceedingly heavy demand in respect to payment of income tax on pension funds such as this, rcprcMntation'! hav" recently been made to the Board of Inland Revenue and to the Royal C<?m- 'miion on Income Tax asking for moro favourable terms. The membership of the fund at the end of the.year was 3,065, as against 3,008 at the ehd of tho previous year. The fund i* divided into four sections, viz., General Fund, towards which the members and firm subscribe equal amounts; War Relief Fund. towards which the firm has sub- scribed the sum of £ 10,000; Supplemen- tary 1 Pbioiis Furid, towards which the firm has given a further J £ 10;00fl; and the Pensioners' Widows* Fund, towards which the firm has up to date paid over tho sunj of £ 25,000.

Lamerton and Mr. Gwyn Evans. A social was afterwards held in the dance-room, the programme comprising games, music and dancing. The even- ing was vote d a. huge success, and at the close u vote of thanks was passed to the chairman, Mr. Hubert, the M-C., Mr. P. Harris, th" pianist, Miss Clarke, and to the members who contributed to the musical part of the programme.
