FU^D CONCERT.I '. !. 1
FU^D CONCERT. I 1 Tremendous Success of! Morriston Effort. | • I It is lass that a fortnight ago that a meeting was held at Morriston and an appeal made on of the Widows and Orphans' Christmas Fund. biuco then event4 have mored rapidly, as evidenced hr the concert provided by the Plasmarl Schoolboy Minstrels and the Gwalia Male Voice Party at the Tabernacle School- room on Saturday evening. Long before the-concert started the schoolroom was packed to overflowing. To meet the ticket holders and others Tho failed to gain admission on Saturday evening, a repeat performance will be ffiraa. MORRISTON'S WIDOWS. I Councillor Morgan JEJ. Keee presided, I and gave a handsome donation of ?!0 10s. [ <Uv*arde the fund. In the course of a ehort address, be expressed his pleasure I in seeing such a large audience. The fame of the Gwalia Party and the good work of the flasmarl Schoolboy Minstrels were in themselves big attractions, but there was something else that prompted them to be present that evening. They desired to show their gratitude to those who bad gone and left someone behind. la Morriston alone there were 70 widows ?B? 150 dpend.ntS. We could do nothing for the dead. We Nuld revere th0 I memory, hnd the best way they could do M T?M by hoping on such an excellent fund. It was most gratifying to see so I many present to assist such a good cause. The timp for the arranging of the concert I had been very short, nevertheless the reopens* had been magnificent, and was I iust like Morriston. THE PROGRAMME. I The Gwalia Male Voice Party (con- ductor, Mr. (iomer Williams), which has gttmed a great reputation during the past few months in eisteddfodic circles, opened the concert with an excellent rendering of Crossing the Plain," and later gave a very effective lendering of The Martyr, of the .A. rena, both efforts being loudly applauded. The rest of the programme was contri- buted by the Plaamarl Schoolboy Minstrels, who delighted the audience by their all-round clever display. The oberuses, monokgues, songs, and con* carted items were done in nne gtyle, whiWt the topical items (the work of (lfeeers. Tom Morgan and Trevor Lewis, members of the staff) were exc?dhigly <9?? and in?My a r4ociat0d, as also were the patter ite=. I"gpecia.l 4L to, wom the items "Itah? de ino' A 'J'hp to MumblM." "The H .?9 ]?, ?nd "How We Saved the Bfge:" Hasten GUff Jones and E. Herbert .# corner boys displayed extraordinary ability for lads of their age, whilst MMtws J. Beynon, S. Francis, and M. Phillips made excellent soloists. In- deed, wbers all did so well, it would be invidious t,) make further clistinctio-dp For a juvenile performance the pro- gramme wai; of a very high standard, and should on no account be raigge4 when repeated. Great praise is due to Messrs. T. Lewis, T. J. Morgan and 8. T. Bryant el the Plasmarl staff, vfco had trained the lads. ORGANISERS AND WORKERS.
