At two p.m., according to custom, the children with their pastors as- sembled at the venerable old church of St. Eilian, (originally built by Elirn Cannaidd, our British Hilary, in the year 540,) and walked iu procession to the Rec- tory, where they were plentifully regaled with tea, barll brith, &c., under the superintendence of klt-s Griffitli, the respected housekeeper. Ample justice htvitig be,ii done to this repast, the children delivered extemporaneously several chapters from the New Testament, aud sang a few choice pieces of music; after which the rev. Rector kindly addressed them, impressing upon them their duty of studying the Bible, "for, said the rev. gentleman, it was God's best gift to man, as it contained all that it behoved a man to kuow. All young persons should me- ditate seriously on the character of Timothy, gwen by St. Paul, that from his infancy he had knowu the sacred Scriptures, as they were able to make him, and all that faithfully admit and follow their guidance, wis: unto salvation, through faith which is in Christ Jesus." The children having been supplied with apples, buns and oranges, were now dismissed, after having given threa hearty cheers to their pastor and benefactor.
