The Directors of the WELSH PERMANENT BENEFIT BUILDING SOCIETY in presenting their Sixth Annual Re- port, beg to inform the Shareholders that they have again caused a fall investigation of the position of the Society to be made, as was done last year, h9 result of the calcula- tions shew a Balance in favour of the Society of 35 8s 7d. Though the Balance appears to have 0 ightly in- creased since last year, it must be borne iff?d that the Interest allowed Investing Subscribers being calculated on a graduated increasing scale, a much larger sum has been credited them, in proportion, for Interest than was done last year; it must also be remembered that a large number of Investing Subscribers having withdrawn during the year, the relative proportion of profits accruing to those that re- main will be increased in ratio. There being a number of Subscribers who had given No. tices of Withdrawal for a long period, and who were pres- sing for the amonnts severally due to them, the Directors determined on borrowing the amount required to pay tbem all of; and consequently, contracted a lovaK^h with the Welsh Provincial Insurance Company Of 4, to be re- paid by quarterly instalments in two years. The Share- holders will perceive on referring to the aunexed State- ment of Accounts, that the first of these instalments has become due and been paid. By giving their own Bond, and thus rendeting them. selves personally liable for the zC500 so borrowed, the Di- rectors conceive they have given the best possible evidence of their own confidence in the stability of the Society.
