In the event of no allotment the deposits will be returned without any deduction. This Company is established for the purpose of making Whiskies of superior qualities. The head office of the Company will be in London, and the Company under the management of the London Directors, while the Distillery will be under the super- vision of the Resident Directors, gentlemen of position and experience. No promotion money will be paid. The greatly increasing demand for Irish Whisky in England, America, the British Colonies, as also on the Continent of Europe, and the certainty of immediate sale for all that can be produced, take this Company out of the category of speculation, and make it a safe means for the investment of capital, and a bona-jide business undertaking. The Company have made a very valuable agreement to purchase the lease in perpetuity, at a moderate rent, of the extensive, strong and well-built stone premises recently in possession of the Banagher Flax Company, together with 11 statute acres and 37 perches of land within half-a-mile of the town of Banagher, in the King's County, and in the centre of one of the best barley growing districts in the midland counties of Ire- land, for the sum of £ 6500, including the existing valu- able plant and machinery, which together are estimated to have cost £10,000, and are in first-rate condition. Payment of the £6500 to be made in £ 3500 in paid-up Shares of the Company, and X3000 in money. The Machinery above mentioned comprises a first- class 35 horse-power horizontal steam-engine, with boiler, tubes, and fittings; several hundred feet of three-inch wrought-iron shafting; six pair of mill stones, and two large water-wheels, with their acces- sories, all of which will be available for the purposes of the Distillery. A fine stream runs through the premises, and the quality of the water for distilling has been tested, and proved to be of the best kind for the production of Whisky of first-rate quality, while the quantity is so abundant as to be capable of affording almost the entire motive power required: and it is estimated that this splendid supply of water power will save the Company in fuel alone between 4400 and AZW per annum. There is abundance of peal close to the estate, so that a plentiful supply of fuel can be obtained at a very low rate. The offer of suitable premises nearly ready to re- ceive plant, and capable of turning out 603,000 gallons the first year, is highly valuable, as it will enable the Company to commence operations almost immediately moreover, by the possesion of surplus land and abun- dance of water, the size of the Distillery can be increased as required. Another great advantage of the situation is in having one of the larger tributary streams of the Shannon running up to within 100 yards of the back of the Distillery, where a good landing and private road direct into the Works have been made, by which means the Company can have the benefit of the free navigation of the Shannon both for getting corn and shipping Whiskv at a very trifling cost, as the river Shannon itself is within a mile of the Distillery; but the cal- culations in the estimates have been made irrespective of this feature. The Agreement for this purchase is dated the 3rd February, 1873, and made between Robert Walker of the one part, and George Battcock of the other part, on behalf of the Company. This Agreement, together with the Memorandum and Articles of Association, may be seen at the Offices of the Company, or of the Solicitors. The Directors have received an advantageous offer for supplying the entire quantity of malt required from parties in the immediate neighbourhood; thus saving much valuable warehouse room at the Works, which will be available for storing Whisky. The Directors have secured the services of a gentleman of the highest standing and ability as an operative distil- ler, who possesses a thorough practical knowledge of the business, having been for the last twenty-one years en- gaged in one of the largest distilleries in the south of Ireland. Under his inspection, and jointly with the Engineer, stills and machinery, on the most scientific and approved methods, will be erected so that the Com- pany will thus have every advantage at starting. The well-known character of Mr Peacey as an oper- ative distiller will be a guarantee for the quality of the Whisky to be sold by the Company. Shippers, Dis- tillers, and Spirit Merchants by becoming shareholders will secure the double advantage of being both buyers, and sellers of a first-rate article, and ensure the prompt execution of their orders. Practical and careful estimates of the cost of the plant required have been prepared, and after making full allowance for working and all incidental expenses (cost of fuel being calculated irrespective of water power) and depreciation of plant allowed at the rate of 8 per cent, per annum, the Directors feel assured that there will be a profit of from 20 to25 percent, to divide among the Shareholders, as soon as the Distillery is in full working order,—calculating the selling price at 3s. 6d. the strong gallon. Taking into considet-stion the quality of the barley grown in the surrounding district, and the Carriage to Dublin lid. per gallon. Selling price in Dublin 4s. per gallon. Carriage to London 3|. per gallon. Selling price in London 4s. 4d. per gallon. Calculated at present canal rate but it is the intention of the Com- pany, as soon as the works are in operation, to take ad- vantage of the free navigation of the River Shannon, which will materially reduce the carriage. Public and Legal Notices. superior plant and experience to be employed, it is only reasonable to expect that the quality of the Whisky will be fully equal to any offered in the market, and therefore realize a corresponding price. re The number of gallons of proof spirits made and con- sumed in England and Ireland, for the year ending December 31st, 1871, was—Ireland, 9,302,253; England, 7,739,720: and the number of gallons of proof British spirits consumed, was—England, 12,874,732 net amount of duly paid, £ 6,437,366; netamount of duly paid, £ 2,808,717. From these figures will be seen the large quantity of Whisky consumed in Eng- land. The following is taken from the Irish Times, of Novem- er 11th, 1872, and will show the prices of Irish Whiskies as sold by public auction during the previous week. For Whiskey the market continues steady, and with a fair demand by private hand at previous rates. At Mr roxalls public sale on Wednesday the attendance was large, but not much was done, owing to the firm ideas of holders. At foot is a note of the business done. LLOYD, GENERAL DRAPER, COMPTON HOUSE, HIGH STREET, WREXHAM, IN returning thanks to his numerous Friends and the Public generally, for the liberal patronage hitherto accorded him, has much pleasure in announcing his usual GREAT ANNUAL CLEARANCE SALE, Which commenced on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1ST, and R. LLOYD trnsts that the very great reductions in prices he has made in every Department of his extensive Stock, and the New and Genuine character of the whole of the Goods offered, will induce purchasers to favour him with an early call. R. LLOYD in requesting Special attention to the following List of some of his really very cheap Lots, considers it necessary to state that the great difference between this Sale and others similarly announced, is that whilst in the great majority of these Sales, reductions are only made in the prices of old, stale, worn, and damaged Goods, and the inducement therefore to buy must be very feeble indeed, in THIS SALE There is nothing old, everything being NEW and GENUINE, and at such VERY GREATLY REDUCED PRICES, As must have attractions for shrewd purchasers such as seldom comes within their reach DRESSES AT REDUCED PRICES.
