CORRESPONDENCE. [The Editor desires to state that he does not necessarily endorse the opinion expressed by correspondents.) "Give me, above all other liberties, the liberty tv know, to utter, and to arsrue freely, according to conscience."—John Milton. REFORJH." Weare at all times ready and anxious to give publicity to letters commenting upon public men and things, but we think you will agree with us that your letter is on a subject the treatment of which, in fairness to the gentle- man whose business associations you criticise, should appear over your own signature and not over a nom de plume.—ED. S. D.N. ANCESTHETICS AND APPARENT DEATH. —MR J. R. Williamson, 11, Egbert-street, Regent's Park, London, N.W., has sent us a letter on the above subject'for publication, but we fail to see what useful purpose will be served by its insertion.- ED. BARRY DISTRICT COUNCIL BOYCOTT…
BARRY DISTRICT COUNCIL BOYCOTT OF THE VOLUNTARY HOSPITAL. To the Editor of the BARRY DOCK NEWS." SIR,-On the 17th of May, 1900, an employee of the Barry Urban District Council fell from the roof of the Gas Works, where he was working and fractured his skull, &c. Their own rate-supported hospital was full, and he was refused admission. The man in an unconscious condition, and unable to bear the journey into Cardiff, was taken to the Voluntary Hospital, which was also full, but in order to do what it could for such an urgent case, a patient convalescing was removed from one of the wards to the dining room, and his bed made up fresh for the injured man. When the Voluntary Hospital appealed to the Council for space on the sands for a few refreshment stalls in aid of its funds the Council refused the permission, which would have cost them neither trouble nor money. —Yours, &c., A RATEPAYER.
