EVANS AND COMPANY'S EMPLOYEES.—The annual outing of the employees of Messrs D. L. Evans and Com- pany, the Barry Dock Drapers, took place on Wed- nesday last, and the weather being particularly favourable the outing proved most enjoyable. The company was a numerous one, and ,high tea was partaken of at the Cross Keys Hotel, Llantwit Major, and the afternoon was spent in games, &c., on the beach. The assistants of this enterprising firm are, after their annual picnic, prepared to cope with the great rush of business which will inevitably take place in con- nection with Messrs D. L. Evans and Company's coming sale, commencing next Saturday. GRAND BENEFIT SMOKER AT THE CONSERVATIVE CLUB.-For the benefit of Mr James Shields, a smoking concert will be held on Saturday evening next at the Conservative Club and Institute, Station-street, Barry Docks, for which a most attractive variety programme has been arranged, and will include the following artistes :—Messrs Jimmy Shields, the one-legged comedian and dancer George Woodward, Indian club swinger Arthur Roberts, solo violinist; Harry Dobson, baritone vocalist; Tich Taylor, the sheeny-man James Clode, cornet soloist; Bert Ringwall, the man-bird Tommy Waters, negro comedian Fred Ainsworth, vocalist and solo pianist; Dai Williams, silver toned tenor Jack Dainton, versatile comedian Joe Williams, in his screamingly funny burlesque lecture, Babes and other animals and the Excelsior Trio, in their melodious medleys.
