MISSIONS TO SEAMEN. f ERECTION OF AN INSTITUTE AT BARRY. FOUNDATION-STONE MAY BE LAID BY THE PRINCE OF WALES. The erection of an Institute and Chapel on a site at the junction of Dock View road and Castleland-street, Barry Docks, at a cost of about £ 5,000, under the auspices of the Missions to Seamen, of which H.M. the King is president, has been commenced, and it is understood that an effort is being made to obtain the consent of the Prince of Wales to lay the foundation-stone of the new building on the occasion of his visit to Cardiff next month. The King, as well as his late Royal mother, and members of the Royal Family, take a deep interest in the work of the Missions to Sea- men, and the Prince of Wales being a patron of the Society, it is not at all unlikely that the I gracious consent of his Royal Highness may be obtained to perform the interesting function at Barry.

GRAND BAZAAR AT BARRY DOCK WE3LEYAN CHAPEL. We wish to call the attention of our readers to the grand Bazaar which is to be held on Wednesday and Thursday next, May 17th and 18th, in the Wesleyan Chapel, Holton-road, Barry Docks, the proceeds of which are to be devoted towards the fund for building a new chapel on the adjoining site. The opening ceremony will be performed on the first day by Mrs Hibbert, of Dinas Powis, and on the second day by Mrs Oliver Jenkins, of Cadoxton, assisted by a number of "Crown Children," each of whom will hand over 5s to the bazaar fund. The various stalls will be replete with attractive articles, both useful and ornamental and there will be amusements galore, sufficient to interest visitors for hours. The ever popular washing competition will be held, valuable prizes being offered. Several new features will be intro- duced at the bazaar, which will include, among other things, a bazaar post office. Other interest- ing novelties we will not mention we leave those. to the curiosity of the bazaar patrons to investigate for themselves. Refreshments will be provided, and every effort made to ensure the comfort and entertainment of those who attend.

I BARRY" PROGRESSIVES" PRO- POSE ANOTHER COMPROMISE. A correspondent, writing to the Barry Dock News, states :—Ix it possible that another attempt is being made to arrange a compromise between the Barry Education Authority and the managers of St. Helen's Roman Catholic School? I am informed on good authority that last Saturday evening Councillor O. McCann was approached by Councillor W. J. Williams with the view of considering the question of terms of settlement. An appointment was made, and both gentlemen had an interview on Sunday, with the result, I am told, that it was arranged to hold a conference between the Rev Ben Evan's and Mr W. J Williams on the part of the Progressives," and the Rev J. Byrne and Mr O. McCann on behalf of the managers. Has this conference taken place ? If so, with what result ? I cannot personally vouch for the correct- ness of these particulars, but I have every con- fidence in the source of my information.

REVIEW OF PUBLICATIONS. THE LADY'S WORLD." The Lady's World" for May (HoraceMarshall; and Son, 125, Fleet-street, London, E.C.) contains the continuation of a charming serial story entitled The Rich Miss Elsworth," by Esther Miller, and short stories by Fred M. White and L. T. Mead. Society and Drama are both up-to-date with the latest photographs. House beautiful gives a charming description of how to make and decorate a work room, by R, G. Bartlett, followed by tabie decoration for May by Lydia Chatterton, showihg the arrangement of spring flowers in the newest vases. Fancy work contains instructions for making a crochet belt, Oxford lace, cake d'oyley and cross-stitch design for bedspread. The fashions show the newest modes for outdoor and indoor gowns, coats and hats for girls and their elder sisters. Practical dresmaking tells about the new skirts and how to make them, and a gratis pattern is given of a charming afternoon blouse, with instructions how to make it up. Dr Davidson writes upon the temperature of the body, while Lucie Heaton Armstrong points out minor matters about manners, which it would be well for all to read. Correct speaking and writing is very instructive. Cookery contains the usual monthly menu. The other features are busy hour, quiet honr, and underwear.
