The traffic receipts on the Barry Railway, including the Vale of Glamorgan Railway, last week amounted to £14,111, a decrease compared with the corresponding week of last year of £10. Aggregate decrease, £ 21,394. Ht Mr Robert Duncan, of Rhoose Farm, near Barry, has been elected a member of the Royal Agricul- tural Society. The two police constables who gave evidence in the Barry Divorce Case have since been transferred from the district, P.O. Fuller to Ynysybwl, and P.C. South to Abergwynfi. Mr J. Sankey, barrieter-at-Iaw, has been retained to represent the managers of St. Helen's Roman Catholic School, Barry Docks, at the forthcoming public inquiry by the Board of Education. X Mr T. J. Morgan, The Parade, Barry, one of the poor law guardians of the parish, is the president- elect, and Mr George Speke is the hon. secretary- elect, of the Barry Ratepayers' Association for the ensuing year. Mr Sidney Evans and Mr Sam Jenkins, the two revivalists, were expected to commence a mission at Barry last Sunday, but at the different places of worship on that day a telegram was read announc- ing their inability to fulfil the engagement. -i' It is rumoured that the Barry Railway Company have chartered the passenger steamer Greyhound, now plying on the Clyde, to run daily from Barry to Bristol and elsewhere, and that she will arrive in the course of a week or two. ♦ Two new companies, Messrs H. V. Wilkins and Company, Limited, shipbrokers, &c., and Messrs Llewellyn and Bell, Limited, tailors, &c., have this week been formed, in each of which several Barry gentleman are interested. # The Bristol Channel dockowners yesterday decided to form themselves into an association for the purpose of protecting their common interests, and Mr A. Beasly, the general.manager of the Taff Vale Railway Comyany, was unanimously elected the first president.

OPENING OF BARRY ISLAND PROMENADE AND PLEASURE GARDENS. The opening of the new Promenade and beauti- ful Pleasure Grounds at Whitmore Bay and Friars' Point, Barry Island, which have just been laid out through the generosity of Lord Windsor, similar to the Windsor Gardens at Penarth, took place on Monday last, and are open daily for the admission of the public on payment of nominal charges— family ticket for the year 10s, single ticket for the year 5s, monthly family ticket 2s 6d, monthly single Is, ordinary admission 2d, children (under 12) Id. The grounds have been beautifully laid out; seats have been erected at intervals, and the view of a charming expanse of sea and landscape is enjoyed therefrom. Barry Island is frequently visited during the season by as many as 30,000 people in one day, and the pleasure grounds, which extend along the whole of the sea front and bay, from Nell's Point on the one hand to Friars' Point on the other, are sure to prove highly popular and attractive.

SOUTH GLAMORGAN CON- SERVATIVE ASSOCIATION. RETIREMENT OF MR. J. A. LOVAT- FRASER. The annual meeting of the South Glardorgan Conservative Association was held at Cardiff, on Saturday last. The vice-president (Mr O. H. Jones) occupied the chair in the absence of the president (Lord Windsor), who wrote that he could not leave London. Colonel W. H. Wyndham- Quin, C. B., M.P., wrote to a similar effect, and other letters apologising for absence were received from Mr Robert Forrest and Mr Godfrey Clark. The Secretary (Mr R. C. Griffiths) presented his report, which stated that the past year had been a rather bnsy one in the division; much more interest had been taken in politics by both parties. The member had attended and addressed meeting@ since the last report at nineteen places in the con- stituency, as well as having given seven addresses at meetings of clubs and Primrose League habitations. Several meetings had been held in the division under the auspices of the Tariff Reform League. The registration work had been most carefully attended to by the officials of the several districts formed for that purpose. He (the secretary) would like to express his regret at the decision of Mr J. A. Lovat-Fraser to give up the Barry sub-agency and devote his time to his professional duties. Mr Fraser was a splendid organiser, and it was mainly owing to his efforts that the party stood so well in the districts which were under his supervision. It would, therefore, be necessary for special arrangements to be made for continuing the registration and organising work in those districts for the present year. He also regretted that they had lost two prominent supporters and workers through the deaths of Dr E. Treharne and Mr Samuel Evans, two gentlemen whom it would be very hard to re-place, and whose personality and energy would be very much missed. The present electorate was 20,296, as against 19,912 for the previous year. Lord Windsor was re-elected president, Mr O. H. Jones, vice-president; the secretary and treasurer, Messrs R. C. Griffiths, and G. B. T. Nicholl, were re-appointed and on the executive committee Mr J. A. Lovat-Fraser was elected to take the placfi of the late Dr Treharne.
