James, Peter Jones, E. P. Wynne, C. M. Williamg., D. P. Richards, and Dr Harries; Messrs A. J. Hughes, town clerk; G. Jones, corporation solicitor; Dr M. Jones, medical officer of health Mr Reea Jones, surveyor; R. Felix, collector; and H. L. Evans, borough accountant. BILLS AND SALARIES. Various bills and salaries were ordered to be pa.i<L INTEREST. Interest on the sum of 13,150 was ordered to bes paid. REPORTS. Mr R. James read the report of the finance com- mittee, and in accordance therewith the distributiart of Major Tulloch's report was entrusted to the Borough Accountant, who was authorised to secure the assistance of Mr R. Hughes, at 15s per week-. The bye-laws have been placed in the printer's hands by the committee. The committee also passed tha Corporation Solicitor's bill, which has been paid. DAIRY SHEDS. Sergt. Evans presented a list of sheds which he, accompanied by Dr Morris Jones and Mr Rees Jones, had visited. Three or four were unfit to be regis- tered, and immediate steps were ordered to be taken. with regard'to them. HARBOUR ANNUITIES. An order was made for the payment of the sum of" £ 194 18s 9d, harbour annuities on the sum of = £ 15,597 18s 4d. THE PATHS. Mr C. M. Williams referred to the footpath over- the ropewalk, and urged that it should be re-made im a line with the road, so that the publicity might inter- fere with the committal of nuisances. Mr Isaac Morgan said that Mr E. J. Jones was prepared to meet the council. He thought they should construct a road. After a discussion, it was agreed, on the proposi- tion of Mr Peter Jones, seconded by Mr C. M- Williams, that the surveyor should prepare plans. The Town Clerk, in reply to Mr C. M. Williams^ said that nothing further had been done with refer- ence to the Tanybwlch path, nor had Mr Roderick Richardes been waited upon. The Mayor had been. from home. THE VIEWS OF THE TOWN. The Clerk read a correspondence between Mr Liller' and himself relating to the views. Mr Liller said the question had been fully gone into by the general. committee, of which Messrs John James and Peter Jones had been numbers. He also denied having promised to submit a proof of the revised view. Mr C. M. Williams said the Mayor had received a.. letter from Me Liller promising a proof. He then, gave a full history of the matter from its origin, and blamed Mr Liller for giving Aberystwyth a smaller space than Barmouth in proportion to contribution. paid and also for endeavouring to pass by Mr Ho:;r,ll,. who, as secretary of the Improvement Society, had worked up the matter locally. He concluded by asking Mr Peter Jones for an explanation. Mr Peter Jones said the positions were left to artist, and the references to the town n the book: were eulogistic, aud altogether highly satisfactory. Mr Williams said the proportion was not fair. Mr Isaac Morgan said the views would do mam harm tln-i good, and the Town Clerk said that tlxim. picture was a libel upon the Devil's Bfidge. The Corporation Solicitor said the question, was. whether there was a substantial departure from that bargain. Hs-doabtad if there was. On the motion of Mr C. 1V1. Williams it was decided that the matter bo adjourned to the next meeting, far the Mayor to produce the letter. STANDING ORDERS. The Mayor was authorised to affix the corporatiax seal to the standing orders. RENEWAL OF LEASE. tE An application by Mr Palmer for a renewal of the? lease of the Belle V uo Royal Hotel was referred ta the finance committee. THE LEASES QUESTION. This matter was adjourned to the next mooting, tn. be held in the first Tuesday in September. THE STATE OF THE TERRACE. Mr Richard James called attention to the muddy state of certain portion of the Terrace during wet weather, caused by a want fall to the sea, and the town surveyor was instructed to bring in a report on. the matter. This concluded the business.

LOCAL LAW CASE.
LOCAL LAW CASE. In the Court of Appeal, on Wednesday, before thes Master of the Rolls and Lord Justices Bowen and Fry, the case of West Crebor Mine v. Colmer was heard. This was the appeal of the plaintiffs from. Justices Field, Manisty, and Lopes, referring back tor the Master on merits after refusal of judgment, midair 14. The action was brought by Mr Parry, secretary of the West Crebor mine, which is situate in Cardi- ganshii'e, to recover from the defendant, a shares- holder in the mine, which is worked on the cost stock » system, J242 5s, balance of sums due by him. The defendant paid £ 10 ino court, and tho case was re- ferred back to the Master by the Divisional Court, in order that he might go into the merits of the case; and it was from this order that the plaintiffs now appealed.—Mr Littlejohn appeared for the appellants, and Mr Brcnrner for defendant.—The court dismissed the appeal with costs, on the ground that no case had. been made out that would justify the court in varying; the order of the Divisional Court.
E J3,TH.
E J3,TH. The visitors have come in good numbers. Tina- Cambrian Hotel is quite full. The Turkish Baths, &c., are being pushed on with, all possible speed. THE SEA FENCES.—The villagers are now working* in earnest at their sea fence. Four groins are worked out into the sea, corresponding to the number con- structed farther south by the county. The principle of construction adopted in the two sets of g-roins. ig different; which will answer the purpose best remains to be seen. The .beach, since the discontinuation of the discharge of the leet through the culvert into. the sea, begins to re-accumulate already at that point". This fact surely enough goes to prove what the nuisance inspector and the people of Borth asserted to Major Tulloch at the enquiry, and which th", latter evidently believed, notwithstanding the protostsi- of Mr George Owen. Finding that the Gwastad water supply is proving sufficient for all purposes, and seeing the wet ground about Borth getting "as dry as a cork," the permanent discontinuation of the mill. leet has become a consummation to be wished.
