ABERYSTWTIH TOWN COUNCIL. A special meeting of the council was held at the Council Chamber on Tuesday morning, when there were present—Aldermen Williams (in the chair) and John Watkins, Councillors Isaac Morgan, Richard. James, Peter Jones, E. P. Wynne, C. M. Williamg., D. P. Richards, and Dr Harries; Messrs A. J. Hughes, town clerk; G. Jones, corporation solicitor; Dr M. Jones, medical officer of health Mr Reea Jones, surveyor; R. Felix, collector; and H. L. Evans, borough accountant. BILLS AND SALARIES. Various bills and salaries were ordered to be pa.i<L INTEREST. Interest on the sum of 13,150 was ordered to bes paid. REPORTS. Mr R. James read the report of the finance com- mittee, and in accordance therewith the distributiart of Major Tulloch's report was entrusted to the Borough Accountant, who was authorised to secure the assistance of Mr R. Hughes, at 15s per week-. The bye-laws have been placed in the printer's hands by the committee. The committee also passed tha Corporation Solicitor's bill, which has been paid. DAIRY SHEDS. Sergt. Evans presented a list of sheds which he, accompanied by Dr Morris Jones and Mr Rees Jones, had visited. Three or four were unfit to be regis- tered, and immediate steps were ordered to be taken. with regard'to them. HARBOUR ANNUITIES. An order was made for the payment of the sum of" £ 194 18s 9d, harbour annuities on the sum of = £ 15,597 18s 4d. THE PATHS. Mr C. M. Williams referred to the footpath over- the ropewalk, and urged that it should be re-made im a line with the road, so that the publicity might inter- fere with the committal of nuisances. Mr Isaac Morgan said that Mr E. J. Jones was prepared to meet the council. He thought they should construct a road. After a discussion, it was agreed, on the proposi- tion of Mr Peter Jones, seconded by Mr C. M- Williams, that the surveyor should prepare plans. The Town Clerk, in reply to Mr C. M. Williams^ said that nothing further had been done with refer- ence to the Tanybwlch path, nor had Mr Roderick Richardes been waited upon. The Mayor had been. from home. THE VIEWS OF THE TOWN. The Clerk read a correspondence between Mr Liller' and himself relating to the views. Mr Liller said the question had been fully gone into by the general. committee, of which Messrs John James and Peter Jones had been numbers. He also denied having promised to submit a proof of the revised view. Mr C. M. Williams said the Mayor had received a.. letter from Me Liller promising a proof. He then, gave a full history of the matter from its origin, and blamed Mr Liller for giving Aberystwyth a smaller space than Barmouth in proportion to contribution. paid and also for endeavouring to pass by Mr Ho:;r,ll,. who, as secretary of the Improvement Society, had worked up the matter locally. He concluded by asking Mr Peter Jones for an explanation. Mr Peter Jones said the positions were left to artist, and the references to the town n the book: were eulogistic, aud altogether highly satisfactory. Mr Williams said the proportion was not fair. Mr Isaac Morgan said the views would do mam harm tln-i good, and the Town Clerk said that tlxim. picture was a libel upon the Devil's Bfidge. The Corporation Solicitor said the question, was. whether there was a substantial departure from that bargain. Hs-doabtad if there was. On the motion of Mr C. 1V1. Williams it was decided that the matter bo adjourned to the next meeting, far the Mayor to produce the letter. STANDING ORDERS. The Mayor was authorised to affix the corporatiax seal to the standing orders. RENEWAL OF LEASE. tE An application by Mr Palmer for a renewal of the? lease of the Belle V uo Royal Hotel was referred ta the finance committee. THE LEASES QUESTION. This matter was adjourned to the next mooting, tn. be held in the first Tuesday in September. THE STATE OF THE TERRACE. Mr Richard James called attention to the muddy state of certain portion of the Terrace during wet weather, caused by a want fall to the sea, and the town surveyor was instructed to bring in a report on. the matter. This concluded the business.
