"94, Commercial-road, Peckham, July 12,1889. "Dear Sir,—I am a. poor hand at expressing my feelings, but I should like to thank you. Your lozenges have done wonders in relieving my terrible cough. Since I had the operation of 'Tracheotomy' (the same as the late Emperor of Germany, and unlike him, thank God, I am still alive) performed at St. Bar- tholomew's Hospital, no one could possibly have had a more violent cough it was so bad at times that it quite exhausted me. The mucus, which was very copious and hard, has been softened, and I have been able to get rid of it without difficulty.—I am, sir, yours truly, J. HILL.' MEDICAL NOTE. The above speaks for itself. From strict inquiry it appears that the benefit from using Heating's Cough Lozenges is understated. The operation was a specially severe one, and was performed by the specialist, Dr H. T. Butlin, of St Barthokmew's. HospitaL Since the operation the only means of relief is the use of these Lezenges. So successful are they that one affords immediate benefit, although from the nature of the case the throat irritation is intense. UNRIVALLED TESTIMONY. Under date Sept. 8th, 1891, Mr Hill writes:—" I should long since have been ead. but for your Lozenges-they are worth their weight in gold. I will gladly see and tell anyone what a splendid cough remedy they are." Heating's Lozenges are sold in tins, Is liid each. ONLY FLATTEN THE END- That old story about Columbot aaat the egg. How many thousands of times it has been told, and the moral of it is not stale yet. How easy it is to see through a millstone after somebody else has drilled a hole. Make an egg stand on end ? Of,course we can. Just flatten the shell a bit." But to be the first man to think of that! Ah, yes, to be sure. There is an idea nowadays—which is best illus- trated by a shorb story. All my life," says a lady, "I have been subject to bad headache and bilious sickness. Almost every week I had an attack, when I would have dreadful pain at the temples and a weight over the eyes so I could scarcely see. I went quite dizzy, and had to be constantly lying down on the couch, and but for the necessity of caring for my family would have been confined to bed. I had a bad taste in the mouth in the morning, and a thick phlegm in my mouth obliged me to rinse it out frequently. My appetite was very poor; in fact, I ate next to nothing, and even after taking the simplest food I would go deadly sick and vomit it up. At times I also threw up a quantity of green fluid, and had a heavy, dull, sinking pain in the right side. After every attack I felt very weak, languid, and tired, and had great difficulty in getting about-now better and now worse; this was my condition for several years, during which time I took all kinds of medicines that I could hear of, and was under a doctor for two years, but grew worse in spite of all that was done. One day, in April, 1890, a book was left at my house telling of a medicine called Mother Seigel's Curative Syrup and in it I read of a case which described my complaint. I procured a bottle of the Syrup from Mr John Beckett, the chemist, Monkgate, and after taking it for but a short time, to my surprise and joy all my head- ache and sickness left me, and I never felt so well. Had I known about this medicine and used it years ago, how much suffering it would have saved me." (Signed) ELIZA WARE, April 23,189L 65, Newbro'-street, York. But we cannot know until we learn. From her letter it is plain that Mrs Ware was a sufferer from chronic indigestion and dyspepsia, with liver complaint. The latter accounts for the presence of the green fluid" she speaks of, which was bile. Now the business of the bile is to pass from the liver to the intestines or bowels and to lubricate them, and so assist in the expul- sion of the waste matters. Yet in this, as in all cases of dyspepsia, the bile was out of its place. Remaining in the blood, where it is a poison, it caused the headache, the dizziness, and other painful and dangerous symptoms. All this hap- pened because the liver was overworked, until it finally struck work altogether, as abused labourers often do. The liver was thrown into this condi- tion by the stomach, which, on account of indi- gestion and dyspepsia, tried to make the liver do the work of both. Thus we see that the latter trouble was the real one, and all the rest only consequences and symptoms; and in curing the gastric disorder Mother Seigel's Syrup necessarily delivered the patient from all the results which arose there- from. Mr John McDonald, Green Park, Canterbury, New Zealand, writes :—" It is with great plea- sure that I bear testimony to the efficacy of Mother Seigel's Syrup. About seven years ago my health broke down completely. I tried four different doctors, each for six weeks, without any benefit at all. Somebody told me to try the Syrup. I did so, and in three weeks I was cured. Ever since that time, about seven years ago now, I have enjoyed perfect health and gained two stone in weight. I am over fifty years of age, and look better to-day than when I ivas twenty-jive. I am very thankful to Almighty God and to Mother Seigel." So we learn how to make an egg stand on end, and also that to cure indigestion and dyspepsia is the straight road to health.
