TO THE ELECTORS OF THE EASTERN WARD. LADIES and GENTLEMEN,— The near approach of the 1st of Nov- ember brings with it, to each Elector, a re- minder of Civic duties; and demands from each, as a Burgess of this ancient Town, some attention to the needs of the town in general, and tt)- the qualifications of candi- dates for municipal honours in particular. I respectfully invite your attention to my per- sonal claims. I As a candidate for your suffrages, I have I but one aim in view, and that is to do all ) in my power to increase the prosperity of my native town, and the happiness of its in- habitants. I trust that your experience of me as a fellow townsman, and your knowledge of me as a large employer of labour in the district, are such that you will be favourably pre- disposed to my candidature. My views for the municipal government of the town are, in every sense, progressive. The public service of the town should be, in all details, efficient, so that the town may be not only attractive to strangers, but also pleasant and healthy for its inhabitants. In the expenditure of the rates I hope al- ways, as in any private business concerns, to regard the demands of efficiency as of prime importance, but never to lose sight of the urgent necessity for strict economy. I would in this connection, impress upon the electors that my experience in the manage- ment of important business concerns mill be of invaluable assistance to me-if elected -in administrating the affairs of the town; while, as a large ratepayer, I cannot be in- sensible to the necessity of making the bur- den of the rates as light as possible. To every thoughtful Burgess it must be obvious that the welfare of the town would be promoted if some industry could be asso- delated with the locality. Of this I am con- rinced, and would spare no pains to further any such movement. There are rumours that large Smelting Works may be estab- lished if suitable ground can be found. I would do all in my power to find such a site for this or for any other industry, likely to bring employment to the town and pros- perity to its Burgesses. I trust, Ladies and Gentlemen, that this general statement of my views will enable you to entrust me with your representation on the Town Council; and I feel sure that my conduct as your representative would be such as at all times to merit your approval. I beg to remain, Yours faithfully, A. W. KAY MENZIES. Carnarvon, Hi<rliiield, October 28th, 1910., c470 CARNARVON MUNICIPAL ELECTION, 1910. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE EASTERN WARD. Brynarfon, Victoria Road,, Carnarvon. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— At the request of a large number of ratepayers and friends, I have decided to come out and offer my services as one of your representatives on the Town Council of Carnarvon. Should you do me the honour of electing nie, I shall, to the best of my abilities, pive all possible attention to the interests of the town generally. I may say that I claim to know something of the wants of Carnarvon, having been in active touch with the trade of the town for the last 30 years. Now that we heas of new industries opened in different parts of the country, I shall do all in my power to secure a share for the town, and thus have more work for the labouiincj classe I shall also spare no effort to keep the rates as low as possible. I beg to be, Your obedient Servant c471 JOHN PRICE. BOROUGH OF PWLLHELI. TOWN C ELECTION. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— I most respectfully beg to solicit your rofce and interest in the forthcoming Muni- cipal Election. It will be considered a privilege by me to render my services in representing you in all faithful and sinoore a manner as has characterized my efforts during the past 9 years. The welfare of the Borough has, and will be, my incentive, in dealing with municipal matters in a thoroughly impartial spirit, and in accordance with my firm personal con- victions. My desire is not for a seat on the Council only, but am wishful to realize that my elec- tion will be in accordance with your desire as electors, and that I shall have been re- turned as your representative. f Your obedient Servant, R.
