RUTHIN. Ruthin Rural District Council, Mr J R Lloyd presided at the monthly meeting of this Council on Monday. The elerk (Mr D E H Roberts) was unable to be present owing to illness, and the Chairman expressed a hope that he would £ ODn be restored to his usual b. &'tb, HEALTH BILL. The Medical Officer reported ten deaths and seven b:rtbs as having been notified in the district daricg the previous fjur weeks, giving es thj annual death and birth rates 11 3 snd. 10 05 per 1,000 of the inhabitant. Stven of the deaths oc- curred in persons over 65 years of age. Six cises of scarlet fever had been notified, the couree of which could not be definitely traced. It h&d been found necessary to close the Llanelidan School. DISINFECTION OF HOUSES. At the previous meeting the Council received a letter from Mr Hough, of Graigfechan, proteeting against a charge of £2 168 9i made against him for disin- fecting his house after an outbreak, It Wfc8 now stated that the bill c:;uld not ba enforced under tho Regulation*, as the necessary notice had not been served. Miss DAvies-Oooke advocated the estab- lishment of a disinfecting station in which bedclothes could be treated. She re- marked that there was very little likli- hood of a pint isolation hospital being erect* d in the district for scma time at least, but, in the meantime, something ehould be done to disinfect bedding. The medicd officer (Dr T 0 Jones) said he had advooatcd the provision of such a station. The disinfecting cf bedding was quite as necessary as of bouses, Io was resolved to leave the matter in abeyance until after the next meeting cf the Joint Hospital Committee, End that the Clerk should, in the meantime, write to the County Medical Officer of Health. DEFECTIVE HOUSES. Further csefs of defective and insanitary farm houses on L-rd Bagot's estate were reported, ecme of which required immediate attention. It was dee ded to communicate wiih the agent asking that attention be paid at ores to the cases. A committee was appointed to visit Ty isaf, ClccAenog, the property of another owner, DANGEROUS CORNERS. In rcfereinea to two dangerous corners near Vron Yw, Llardyrnog, it was stated that Mr G B Behrens, the owner of the ¡ Vron Yw estate, wculd give the necessary stone for the v-oi k fret, and also contribute his share of the coat. It was resolved to adjourn the matter until the next meeting, thy surveyor to ascertain what the land rcqiittd would cost, and what proportion Mr Bebrena was prepared to contribufp. TELEPHONIC FACILITIES AT RBEWL. A letter was read from the Postmaster General stating thatron rccanpideraiion be was prepared to reduce the annual UUll- tee in respGCl of the telephonic facilities at Rhewl from X14 to £8, and that he would open a telegraph office as well. It was decided to forward the letter to the Llanycys PArish Council. THE INSPECTORS AND THEIR SALARIES. Tho Loc:l Government Board wrote Stating that they would not at present raise any further objection to the continuar, ce of the system under which the Inspectors of Nuisances worked, but they desired the Council to assign separate salaries to the officers as Sanitary Inspectors. EXTRAORDINARY TRAFFIC. Attention was called to the great damage done to roads la the Llacdyrnog district by extraordinary traffic to the LIDgwyfau Sanatorium, and the matter was left in the hands of a committer. A HIRAETHOG ROAD. A petition was read from ratspnyers in the Hiraefchog district askiog the Council to repair a portion of the road between Hafoltywen and Pint y Rbyddfa. It was pointed cut during the subse- quent difcaasion that no ro d bad yet been adopted by the Council until it was first repaired by the Parish Council concerned, and the surveyor WitS instructed to ascer- tain what the farmers of tie distfict were prepared to do in the matter. o
