ICARDIFF EXCHANGE.
I CARDIFF EXCHANGE. BUTE DOCKS, SATURDAY EVKNTSG. There was a very good attendance on 'Change to-day, and in the steara coal trade a fair amount of business was effected. For house coals the demand was a tr fl-) weaker, but prices for all descriptions closed firm, more especially for No. 3 Rlioiidda. Small coai, both steam and bituminous, was in moderate request, and the same remark applies to Welsh cokes and patent fuel and pitwond. In our local freight market to-day, chartering for steam tonnage has again ruled inactivs, and as the rates now offering for the higher Mediterranean are in many instances below the figures held ont for by owners, little or no further business for this direction has been effected. Fixtures.— Port Said, 10s, local boat, and again "t same rate for (Kate Tiiomas); Nice lis 6-), 300 delivery clean terms or charter (Gwenllian Thomas); Con- stantinople, 9; (Sai' ^,1) London, 4s (Ravens- worth) Genoa, 10s 3 400 delivery (Rothiemay); Barcelona, 12s 10j 1, (Lrzz f and again at 12.; 9J for (Seoresby); Bari, lis 61 (Nesta); Gibraltar, 7s 9 i Cse^rea). Saii.Tiie market for this class of tonnage con- tinues tirm, and orders are very plentiful for all directions. Rates for the River Plate and Brazil- are still hardening, and a similar remark applies to Cape, West Indian, and South American freights. Eastern rates are steady. Coasting and Baltic quiet. Mediterranean quotations remain unchanged. Ore rates from Bilbao continue dull, and the same remark applies to freights offet-iiigfrom Carthagena and Huelva. From Elba, Pomaron, Ergasteria and Marbeila the inquiry is still very limited. Carloforte, BtMiisaf, and other Mediterra- nean quotations remain unchanged. London advices report -Black Sea and Azov IIwrkt duIl. without any material alteration rates for promptshipment. Freights fron Odessa continue quiet. Staf fs grain and cotton freights are unimproved. Eastern quotations remain unchanged. Adelaide advices state fair activity has pre- vailed during the past fortnight in the home freight marker., and several vessels have been fixed for prompt loading. Some inquiry is being made ior steam tonnage, but rates offered from outports to continent betweeu Hamburg and Bordeaux are at present too low to induce much business when the demand for ships for Melbourne loading commences fo be felt. Rates may, bow- ever, very probably hardeu for both saii aud. steamers.

LONDON, Saturday. About an avsraare demand prevailed for money. and supplies w re not ltrze. Loans remained steady, being quoted at 2 to 2 per cent.
