CHARTER OF THE BOROUGH OF BRECON AND THE TOWN OF LLUELL. (Continued from No. 144.) And, moreover, know ye that we, in consideration that the said bailiff, aldermen, and burgesses of the borough aforesaid, and their successors, the burthens in the borough aforesaid, from time to time may be able and have power the better to sustain and support of our special grace and of our certain knowledge and mere motion, have granted, and by these presents for us, and the heirs and successors of us, the aforesaid Queen, as far as in us lies, do grant and free special and lawful license, faculty power, and authority do give, to the aforesaid bai- liff, aldermen, and burgesses of the borough afore- said, and their successors, to have, receive, and purchase to them and their successors, for ever, as well of us, the heirs and successors of us, the afore- said Queen, as of all our subjects and lieges, or of whatsoever other persons, or -of whatsoever other person, manors, messuages, lands, tenements, rec- tories, tithes, rents, reversions, services, and other possessions, revenues, and hereditaments what- soever, which of us, the heirs or successors of us, the aforesaid Queen, they hold not in chief, nor bv military service, nor of us, or of any other or others by military service, without the special license of us, the heirs or successors of us, the aforesaid Queen, and without the license of the lord or lords of whom the aforesaid lands and hereditaments are holden, so that the manors, messuages, lands, tene- ments, rectories, tithes, rents, revenues, services, or other possessions, revenues, and hereditaments do not exceed the annual value of twenty pounds by the year, the statute of lands and tenements at mostmain not to interfere, or any statute, act, ordi- nance, provision, or restriction thereof to the con- trary heretofore had, made, published, ordained, or provided, or any other thing, cause, or matter whatsoever in any wise notwithstanding.
