Ha.ncok and Co., Limited, was held at the registered offica3 of the company, Ciawshay-street, Cardiff on Tuesday. Mr Joseph Gaskell pliesided. and there were also present Messrs K. A. Bowriog, A. P. Fillan!, J. S. Gasksil. F. E. Hancock, -or. Taylor, T. Lnmsion, Owen Davies, and others. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of thereportof the directors, referred at the outset with regret to the loss that the company had sustained in the death of their late chairman. Ma Valentine Trayea. Proceed- ing to comment upon the report, the speaker said that the net profit was I46,423 10s lid, which was the largest amount yet earned in one year by the company. This was £ 5.721 153 6d more than the previous year, and of this snm Cardiff earned £ 3,3S8, Newport. £ 1,049 and the Swansea branch, £ 1,073. They would note that the interim dividend on the Deferred Shares was at ths rate of 6 per cent, per annum, instead of 5 per cent., aa in the previous year. The rate was increased because they foand that the business of the company justified it. Turning to the balanie-sheet they found items for shareholders' capital and 4 per cent. Debenture Stock remained the same as last year, but it would be evident that rhe progress of the company would necessi- tate some increase of the former in the not dis- tant future. So far as trade debtors, debtors for loan3, and debtors for rents were concerned the total a.mount was but -194,145, as against X107,872 in the previous year, a state of things which he ventured to think they would regard as most satisfactory. In conclusion the speaker ex- piessed the opicion that the outlook of the com- pany was most favourable, ia view of the very high wages now being earned by the men engaged in the coal and iron industries. He moved that a dhidend for the half-year ending May 31st be declared on the Preferred Ordinary Shares at the rate of 6 per cent. per annum, and on the Deferred Ordinary Shires at the rate of 10 per cent per annum. Dr. Taylor seconded, and the report was ad- opted unanimously. Mr Robert A. Bowrip.g was re-elected a direetor. Messrs C. F. Kemp and Sons were re-elected auditors.
