TI1HE Blendora is the name of a delight- 1 fully blended tea, which ranks among the best and most tasty beverages in the market. Its preparation has engaged the careful attention of two of the most experienced and scientific tasters of tea, who have tasted its adaptability for various waters. After a most searching trial, the verdict has been pronounced par excellence. The result has been that a splendidly blended tea has been offered to the public, and the "Blendora" has gained rapid and deserved popularity among the army of tea drinkers. It makes an exhilarating "brew "and emits a grate- ful aroma. This tea is sold at popular prices in packets in handsome tins containing weights from 1 to 26 lbs. Mr J. W. Glamorgan County Council Election, 1895. 1 TO THE ELECTORS OF MAESTEG URBAN DISTRICT. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— THE term of office for which you elected me three years ago will terminate on the 4th proximo, and as I have been requested to again take the office, it affords me a pleasure to offer my services, and as we understand a contest is to be forced upon us, I beg to ask you again for your vote and confidence, which you have so kindly reposed in me for the past six years. I need not detail the honours which you have for many years past shewn me, and in return I can only say, that as I have laboured in your interests for so|many years, it will not only be my duty, but a labour of love, to render any aid that I can to further the interests of your important and increasing district. It may be of interest to you to know that the number of attendances at the Council and various Committees and Meetings, during the past three years have been 85, of which I have attended 67. I am, your obedient Servant, JAMES BARROW. Maesteg, 18th Feb., 1895. 1412 Glamorgan County Council. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE OGMORE DIVISION. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— THE second term for which you elected me to JL represent your DiviRion on the County Council will shortly expire, and I have beeu requested by an influential body of Electors to allow myself to be nominated, and after mature consideration, I have decided to offer my services for the third time. During the six years I have had the honour of representing the Division, I have conscientiously endeavoured to faithfully discharge the duties devolving upon me. I have been Chairman of the Asylum Farm Committee for two years, and have served on the Education Committee, the Sanitary Committee, and the Asylum Committee, the meetings of which I have regularly attended. Being a practical farmer, I am in full sympathy with the difficulties of agriculturists during the present depression, and will always, as I have in the past, give my best attention to all matters coming before the Council affecting this industry. My opinions on the various public questions are well known to you all, but I desire to emphasize the fact that I am in entire sympathy with the Parish Councils' Act. I have always voted against the Election of Aldermen from outside the Council, being a firm believer in the direct representation of the people. Trusting that my conduct in the past has merited your further confidence, I beg to remain, Your Obedient Servant, 1415 EVAN EVANS. Glamorgan County Council Election, 1895. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE BRIDGEND DIVISION. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— AT a large and Representative Meeting of the Conservative Party, held last night, I was unanimously adopted as the Conservative Candi- date for the forthcoming Election, Mr. J. M. Randall having previously withdrawn his candi- dature. The adoption of a Conservative was made imperative by the action of the Radical Party in having decided to make the contest a Political one, and it was considered necessary, in the interests of the Conservative Party, that they should be united against an avowed political opponent. As to my qualification, I can only repeat my former address. In my capacity as a Member of the late Local Board, and now as Urban Councillor, I have become acquainted with all the requirements of the Division, and have made it my duty to push forward the Sewerage and other Schemes necessary for the welfare of the town. I am an active member of the Committee of Technical Education Classes being held in this town, under the County Council, for instruction in the following subjects :-Cookery, Science and Art, Mining and Geology, and Steam Power and Mechanical Engineering. I have also been instrumental in obtaining a promise for a Building Construction Class for next season. The experience obtained in these various depart- ments of local work would, I trust, be of use on the County Council and its committees, and would enable me to advocate the requirements of the town should they come before the Council. Should you do me the honour to elect me, I will do my best to torward the true interests of all the inhabitants of the town, irrespective of creed or party. I am, Ladies and Gentlemen, Your Obedient Servant, WILLIAM OWEN McGAUL. Quarella, February 22nd, 1895. 1388 County Council Election, 1895. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE OGMORE DIVISION. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— IN answer to a numerously signed requisition of the Electors of the above Division, I beg to again offer myself as a Candidate for Election as County Councillor. If you do me the honour to return me as your Member, you may be sure that I shall use every endeavour to promote the best interests of the District. I remain, Yours faithfully, JOHN ILTYD DILLWYN NICHOLL. Merthyrmawr, Bridgend, Feb. 20th, 1895. 1413 Glamorgan County Council Election, 1895. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE BRIDGEND DIVISION. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— IN response to the unanimous and enthusiastic invitation of the Liberal Party of this town, I have resolved to place my services at your disposal, and to seek your suffrages as the Re- presentative of this Division on the Glamorgan County CounciL I am, as you know, a LIBERAL and a NON- CONFORMIST, and am in full sympathy with the just demands of labour. I have for nearly 19 years lived in your midst, as your fellow-townsman, and am closely in touch with the needs and aspirations of all classes, and it has been my endeavour at all times to do all in my power in the best interests of the town. During the last six years Bridgend has been Eractically unrepresented on the County Council by two so-called Independent Candidates. Two other Independent Candidates are now seeking your support. It is a curious and significant fact that these four gentlemen are Tories. If honoured by election as your Representative, it will be my earnest desire to serve the varied interest of all sections of this important Division, independently of class or creed. I am, Ladies and Gentlemen, Your faithful Servant, WILLIAM POWELL. Rotunda Buildings, Bridgend, Feb. 16th, 1P95. 1424 Glamorganshire Technical Instruction Committee. LOCAL NOTES.
LOCAL NOTES. (BY GWYNOR.") + After having had a short breathing time since the exciting District Council Election, the electors of Bridgend are once more plunged into the vortex of a contested election. A contested election we poor mortals here below have come to regard as something that we have to put with, like the rate collector (from whom no householder at Bridgend can escape Scott free). But unlike the rate collector, a contested election is a welcome visitant in the opinion of not a few; and when the two great historical parties are pitted the one against the other in mortal combat-why then, it assumes the comely form of a thing of beauty and a joy for ever! And who so unsesthetic as not to adore a thing of beauty; or who so ascetic as not to be distracted by a j oy for ever! Who indeed;' None, I trow, except it be a few attenuated human figures in some squalid haunts still-alas !— to be found in Oldcastle, where some poor folk have had their senses so benumbed and their feelings so palsied by the cold—the wintry co- -that they can neither see good in a thing beauty, nor be charmed by a joy for ever. But that matters not, for if the wish is father to my thought, it follows, according to Euclidic reasoning, that my wish would have the unexpected happen. Now, the unexpected does often happen, and if it so happens that it happens in this case, the candidate on whom my heart is set will be the victor. Therefore it is good that my wish is father to my thought. I am not going to give the name of my favourite candidate; because that would be to court the enmity of others, as well as show my political colours, and I have no desire to obtrude my politics on others. (Reason My pretty arguments wi -Id convert others, but I desire to convert n( as no- body could convert me, and" dv o others -you know the rest). No, 1 will not give his name; but I will adopt a plan that will at once have the advantage of being both novel and enigmatical. I will go so far as to say that his surname begins with the same letter as does the
