SALE OF FREEHOLD PROPERTY. I On Thursday last, at the Owen Glyndwr Hotel, Corwen, Messrs. Knight, Frank and Rutley, commenced their season's sales of Landed Estates, when Sir Howard Frank submitted to auction by direction of Mr Alfred Lloyd, the Hendre-Arddwyfaen Estate situate about eight miles north of Corwen on the Holyhead Road, extending to about 812 acres, comprising seven Farms and a Small Holding of convenient size well-watered by streams and springs, let to practical and bard-working Tenants, many of them having been in the occupation of the same families for many years. The houses and buildings being in a good state of repair, considerable sums of money having been recently expended upon them, producing a rent roll of L562 9s. per annum, free of tithe commutation rent charge. The houses and buildings on the farms are insured up to the 25th March, 1939, without payment of any further premium, and the purchasers were given the benefit of the Insurance policy according to the lots pur- chased by them. The property was first offered as a whole, and the bidding commenced at £ 10,000, and the whole were eventually sold to Mr. Green, of Chesterfield, for 111,700. After a brief discourse with Mr. Green, Sir Howard Frank informed the vast assembly that the purchaser was willing to submit the property for sale in lots as he was anxious for the tenants to have the first chance for the farms which they had inhabited for so many years. The property being offered as follow Lot 1. Ty-Cerrig, tenant Mr Robert Owen, acreage 49 023; rent £ 51 7s. Od. First bid, £ 700, with-drawn at Lot 2. Arddwyfaen, tenant Mr. Robert Jones, acreage 154 807; rent £94 14s. 6d. First bid, £1,500, with-drawn at £ 2,000. Lot 3. Hendre Arddwyfaen, tenants, the Denbighshire County Council, Messrs Jones Brothers and Sister, acreage 185'213; rent 1139 2s. 6d. First bid, £ 2,200, with-drawn at £ 2,825. Lot 4. Bryn Nannau, tenant Mr Evan Roberts, acreage 67*694 rent £ 30 10s. Od. First bid £ 500, witb-drawn at £ 600. Lot 5. Gaerfecban, tenant Mr L Edwards, acreage rent £ 88 15s. Firt bid, 11,300, with-drawn at £ 1,750. Lot 6, Ty'n-vr-allt, tenant Mr John Parry, acreage, 15'058; rent JE7 10s. First bid, £ 100, sold to Tenant for £ 135. Lot 7. Dolwerfyl, tenant Mr Robt. Jones, acreage 98 533 rent JE63. First bid, ZI,100, eold to Tenant for £ 1,450. Lot 8. Moelfre Newydd, tenant Mr Hugh Jones, acreage, 115*691; rent £ 87 10s. First bid, 91,500, with-drawn at £ 1,825. After the Sale the Auctioneer stated that negotiations were most hopeful regarding the sale of the other farms, the Tenants and the Denbighshire County Council being desirous of purchasing.
