The Royal Magnets.—One of the many proofs that summer is close upon us, is the reappearance on the scene once again of the ever popular—ever welcomed Boys in Blue." Messrs Pare and Bowden and their party have arrived in our midst' and will open their out-door Entertainment on Saturday night. Among the party we are glad to notice the inimical comedian and favourite of former years—Mr Harry Kitk, who will not fail to be a great acquisition to the troupe. Messrs Pare and Bowden have spent so much of their time at Barmouth dining the last twenty years, that they are no longer looked upon as strangers, but rather as Barmouth's 'Old Boys' returning home. We extend to them a beartv welcome, and sincerely hope that they, in com- mon with Barmouth generally, will en- joy a busy and prosperous season. Congregational Festival.—The annual Sunday fostival of the Congregation- alistp, of the 'district was held at Dol- gelley on Monday last. The district extents from Drwsynant to Harlech, and there was an excellent gathering of young people and adults from all the Sunday Schools. Many of the piizes given for Scriptural knowledging came to cur neighbourhood. The first prize in the whole Union in Class III. was won by Miss Elizabeth Ann Owen, Artbog I be first pi izc in the whole Union in Class II. went to Miss Cerid- wen Ellis, Arthog, and the second prize to Miss Jenny Garnett, Bai-nio,u Lli -till pupils of the Barmouth County School Miss Dora Jones, Barmouth, also passed the Second Grade Staff Notation Certi- ficate. Our town was well represented at the festival. The singing at the morning meeting was conducted by Mr J. R. Thomas, Glanmorgan. In the afternoon there was. an united children's meeting, when the singing was under the leadership of the Rev. P. H. Lewis, F.T.S.C. Miss L. E. Rowlands, River's Lea, was accompanist at the two meet- ings. The evening was devoted en- • tirely to singing by the adults under the leadership of the Rev, P. H. Lewis, and the chapel was full to overflow. The singing of the tunes and the anthems reached a very high standard. The rendering of Gounod's By Baby- lon's Wave was excellent. A very efficient orchestra, comprising twenty- four performers, proved a great help. Among the players were the following from Barmouth 1st violins, Mrs Wade Roberts, Mr D. Roberts, N.P.Bank; Miss Eva Jones, Mr David Roberts second violins, Miss Madge Hughes, and Mr Thomas Jones cello, Mr J. R. Thomas; double bass, Me William Jones cornet, j Mr David T. Jones horns, Mr William E. Williams and Sergeant R. Rowlands. | It was a great day for us all, and we sincerely hope that the catechising and the singing will prove to us all a source of inspiration for the future.
