F. O. Grenfell, the first V.C. of the war General view of soldiers' graves with the destroyed church in the background. And lull picture programme. Congress of Nations.—This operetta, which will be performed at the Pavilion on Good Friday is a great contrast to the awful realities of the war which is now waged amongst the nations. In it the various nations argue in a friendly way their claims to superiority, but first of all they choose a judge, and a jary is called to aid the judge in arriv- ing at an impartial decision, then the evidence is taken. The Russian begins by describing his vast territories. The Swede asks if national greatness is to be judged by size. The Dane denies that bis Swedish neighbour is the special representative of the ancient Norsemen The Spaniard pompously says his country was great when the nations of the North were in barbarism. The French asks who is so brave, so gay, so gallant as their countrymen. The German contends they are wise, pro- found, learned and musical. The Hollander loves trade, cultivates the soil, is homely and minds his own business. With the Turk, Allah is great. The pride of the Swiss are their beautiful mountains, lakes, and their freedom. The African Negro speaks of his gold, diamonds, spices, and plenty sand." Italy prides itself on its cities, mountains, lakes, is the hotne of painting, poetry, and music. The Hindoo dilates upon illimitable plains, vast rivers and forests, and tremendous mountains. The Chinese speaks of teeming, and industrious population The American guesses they can take the shine out of the worn-out old monarchies, The Scotchman says that "for courage, perseverance and intelli- gence, they have ever been celebrated." The Welsh say their language is per- fect," and boast that" no country since the days of ancient Greece can boast of such a festival as the Eisteddfod." The Irish are great at the bar, in the senate, in eloquence, and fighting, and ever ready to say a kind word and do a kind action. The English claim many of the speakers as relatives, and that the sun never sets on the Empire. The Austra- lian speaks, amid the protests of the others that it is only a colony, and reminds the competitors that the course of the empire is westward and the turn of Australia will come. The whole be- ing interspersed with solos, dnetts, trios and choruses. Judge and Jury con- sult together, and the verdict is an- nounced by the Jury. The competitors join the Jury in a chorus. Final chorus, Hail the time when strife shall I vanish." On account of its appropriat- ness to the times, and its general excellence, we recommend all who can to go and see it. Advertising Committee.-A meeting of the above Committee was held on Friday nignt. Present:—The Rev. Gwynoro Davies, Messrs John Roberts, C.C., Ernest Lloyd, J Jones, The Library, William Owen, David Roberts, NP. Bank, Henry Freeman, J. Pryce Jones, Robert Lloyd Williams, and Rhys Jones, with Mr R. Llewelyn Owen, secretary. It was reported that press advertising bad been carried on during November, December and January. The Secretly reported that there was a balance at the Bank in favour of the Association to the amount of C20. The Chairman announced that through the instrumentality of Mr David Roberts, manager of the National Provincial Bank, a donation of C2 2s. Od., bad been received from the Directors of the N.P. Bank. A Jetter was read from Mr W. H. Williams, secretary to the Cam- brian Resorts Association, stating that at a special meeting of the Association held at Barmouth recently it was re- solved that the Association should be continued. He would be glad if the Barmouth Advertising Committee would fippnint delegates to attend the meeting and to speak ns to the amount of financial support they would be able to render. The Chairman said that it would be a great advantage to Bar- mouth if they would rejoin the Associa- tion. For every J61 subscribed by the different resorts along the Coast, the Cambrian Railways Company gave an additional 21.-After some discussion, it was decided on the proposition of Mr J. Jones, The Library, seconded by Mr Robert Lloyd Williams, that they should join the Association, and that the delegates should have a free hand to do the best they could with the C20. The following were elected as delegates to the meeting to be held at Barmouth to-morrow:—Messrs J. Pryce Jones, William Owen, Henry Freeman, Rbys Jones and John Roberts.
