Provided that in the case of any workman to whom thta Notice applies the minimum rates amd overtime rates shall during the nrst two months of his employment in agriculture be 20 per cent. less than the rates which but for this provision would be applicable to him under the provisiona of the preceding clauses of this Notice. 6. For the purpose of the a,bove tajtes the following employmen'c ia defined M overtime employment, that is to say (1). All employment in excess of 64 hours in any week (excluding Sunday) in eummer. (2). All employment m exceM of 48 houra in any week (excluding Sunday) in winter. (3). All employment on a Sunday. 7. For the puj-poae of the above ratee employment in summer shar be deemed to be em- ployment during the period commencing on the nrat Monday in March and terminating on the :bat Sunday in October; and employment in winter shall be deemed to be employment during the Teat of the year. 8. The above ra-tee ehad!! apply (according to <.he terme &bove eet 'forth) to all male workmen under 18 yea-ra of age who are wholly Otr partly etmployed in agriculture within the meaning of Section 17 (1) of the Corn Production Act, 1917, in the above-mentioned area during such time ae they a.re eo employed. 9. For the purpose of the &bove raAes the hours of work shall not include meal times, but shall include any time during which by reason of weather conditions an employer h&e pre- ved[ed from working a workman who was present at 'the place of employment and ready to 'work. The Agricultural Wages Board, M required by Section 6 (4) of the a<bove Act, acd by para- graph 4 of the above-mentioned Regulations will consider any objections to the above ra-tea which may be lodged with them within one month from the date of this Notice. I AGRICULTURAL WAGES BOARD (ENGLAND AND WALES). —j Proposal to Fix Minimum Rates of Wages for Cowmen, Waggoners and Shepherds in Brecon and Radnor. The Agricultural Wages Board (England -and Wales), duly established and constituted under Section 5 (1) of the above Act and the Regula- tions made by the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries, dated the 8tL November, 1917,having had regard to the provisions of sub-sections (6) and (7) of the said Section, hereby give Notice, as required by sub-section 4 of the said Section, and by paragraph 4 of the Agricultural Wages Regulations, 1918, that they propose to make the following Order 1. The rates of wages Bxed by the Board as applicable to employment in the area comprising the administrative counties of Brecon and Radnor as set out in the Orders of the Board dated 16th July, and the 27th August, 1918, shall not apply to any workman employed in the 8d,id area wholly or mainly as a Cowman, Waggoner or Shepherd. 2. The Wages payable for employment I of any male workman of 18 years of age and over employed in the said area wholly or mainly as a cowman, waggoner or shepherd shall be not less than wages at the rate of 35/- for a week consisting of I the hours of employment, whether on week-days or on Sunday customary in the area in the case of a workman so employed. 3. The differential rates for overtime in the case of employment of any workman to whom this Notice applies shall be as follows, that is to say (a) In respect of overtime employ- ment on week-days, 8!d. per hour. (b) In respect of overtime employ- ment on a Sunday, lOd. per hour. 4. For the purpose of the application of the above rates all employment in ex- cess of the hours of employment customary in the area, in the case of a cowman, wag- goner or shenherd as the case may be is hereby defined to be overtime employment. o. For the purpose of the above rates the hours of work shall not include meal times, but shall include any time during which, by reason of weather conditions, an employer has prevented from working a workman who was present at the place of employment and ready to work. The Agricultural Wages Board, as required by Section .3 of the above Act and by paragraph 4 of the above-mentioned Regulations, will con- sider any objections to the above proposed Order which may be lodged with them within one month from the date of this Notice.
