,SKETTY AND MAYOR'S FUND.
SKETTY AND MAYOR'S FUND. A well-attended and very representative meeting was held at the Sketty Church Hall last evening to consider ways and means for assisting the Mayor of Swansea's Soldiers' Comforts Fund. The Vicar (Rev. II. J. Stewart) occupied the chair. Mr. Stanley Cook outlined the Mayor's scheme, and he wished it, to bo understood that the Central Committee, would in no wise interfere with the work done by various sowing guilds, etc., throughout the town and district. This work would go on as heretofore, and the aim of the cen- tral organisation was to supplement the good work Already being done. For in- stance, the Chamber of Commerce, whom Mr. Cook represented on the Town Com. mittee, had a tobacco and cigarette fund which had sent these comforters'' to local troops since the beginning of the war. The Central Committee "moJd now see that the local fighters should receive comforts of every description. The meeting had been called in order to appoint two Sketty repre- sentativee on the working or guild com- j mittee. Pariah Councillor J. If. Morgan &-tid that Sketty people should extend every effort in the common cause. He moved that they elect two on the Mayor's Committee, a pro- position which was eeeondpd by Parish Councillor Turn James and carried unani- mously. The two chosen representatives were Mrs. Charles Eden and Mrs. T. W. Stockwood. Discussion then took place -is to the ad- visability of appointing a committee to aid these ladies in completing t1, list of Sketty soldiers, and it was ultimately decided to ask each place of worship to elect two re- presentatives with Mrs. Johns and Mr, J. II. Morgan.

The snow which had been failing let the past few days vanished as if by magic for l?dy J-eHicoe? visit last Monday, But if there was a dearth of sunbeams on that! special afternoon, it was in a grei ?' measure made up by the 6unshine of the l smiling fac? of the boys of the Swansea Naval Brigade, who were lucky enough toj form her" guard of honour." They had been rehearsing their part for some as naval receptions in our town are raro. and the officers were all determined that' preparation should make tfcem as perfect, as pon?ible for the occasion. j SaHors'and&cidiers'Ciub. j I he boys received a hearty welcome at' SJœay, and all eyes were turned ad- miringly ou tho young Jack Tars, who lined up with the soldiers for Ladvj | Jeilicoe's inspection. Their cutlasses; gleamed like silver as she passed up ar, 'I down the lines with their Commodore, Lieut3nant John Hodgens. Truly they} looked boys to be proud of. To give the) true naval touch the admiral s salute was then sounded on the .bugle, and this tribute was greatly appreciated by the. wife of our gallant Admiral, who Ik safe- guarding us on the grey North Sea, ( I Centra! HIL 1 This ceremony was, cf cour?, the mosti important one of the day. Accordingly m'.tltihtde? of ??eople had taken their places along the line of ronte hours before the appointed time. The guard here consisted of naval resolve men, in addition to a detachment of military, under the command of Colonel McLean and the Swansea Naval Brigade. Lady Jeilicoe told the Commodore that 6he was delighted with the smartness of the'youths ("LeligiltA'd With the (?ith-e sung, wliose -t,a lie-ar, ily CuLig, i!lging Hale Britannia" Leading Sea-i man Albert Thomas and Eugene Strattoil presented, on hehalf of the Brigade, a' Ixmquet to Lady Jeliieoe and to Lady Lyons. The officers of the Brigade, Messrs. Neagle, Ashbury, Williams, Brooks, Evans, and Stephens, must have felt rewarded for their patient work with the boys when a high compliment was paid them by Lady Jeliicoe, Lady Lyons, General Sir Hills-Johns, V.C., Colonel \Vright, Colonel McLean, lion. Talbot Rice, etc. I Musical Programme. The musical programme for the Naval Brigade WM Mrangcd by Mrs. Ashburyi and her daughters. It was a gTeat suc- cess. Anchor's Weighed;" First Naval Brigade. The lads of the First Naval Brigade on Wednesday last fell in at headquarters at b p.m., and, headed by their band, took a route march to cche Landore Cinema, where Mr. Harry litho had arranged a very fine topical programme., which was warmly appreciated by tho lads. When C.P.O. James numbered them in their ranks, it was gratifying to the officers to record the grand total of 102 outside tho I number of new recruits again enrolled. It is very encouraging to the instructor to observe the keen interest and attention given him by his pupils, who are in dead: earnest. They will also be glad to learn the news that the two oouib; are expected to be ready this week for their training, and' one cannot conceive the eagerness of the little men to procure them for their use. Our Navy." On Friday the manager of the ElysilIDl i granted the lads admission to the first performance of the second series of pic- tures entitled Our Navy," and judging by the vociferoiii3 cheering at the close and their happy faces, one could readily understand that they had enjoyed them- selves thoroughly. A!; the close the bri- gade fell in outside, and a route march was taken along the principal streets. The baud members, who were in fine form, manipulated thedr respective instruments majestically. On Saturday the teams indulged in their usual gamers. The remainder of the boys were taught figure marching by their oommander. To-night a matter of very great and vital importance will be put before the brigade, and it is hoped the members will turn up in good number, so as to become convor- sant with the project in view. The fall-in will be sounded at 7 p.m. at the Ragged School, and those lads who hear the call, and who are not connected with any other junior organisation, may, if disposed, fall in with the happy family and receive the interesting and edifying tuition given by the instructors. Alpha." I C.L.B. NOTES. Owing to the printing works of The Brigade" (the official organ of the C.L.B.) having been burned down, the January issue was very late in being pub- lished, and, in fact, has only recently been delivered. The following are two brigade orders which it contains, tho latter one being rather important:— B.O. 1., 1916.Swords need net be worn at church parades, nor on other occasions when lads are not armed. B.O. 1, 1916,—Units on the march at night shall carry a lantprn showing a white light at the had oc the oolumn, anel one showing a red light at the rear. Holy Trinity Company. This company paraded at headquarters last Sunday morning at 10.15, and pro- ceeded to Holy Trinity Church where, during the course of the moruing service the vicar presented the lads with their membership cards, thus admitting them members of the C.L.D. The lads will! para.do at headquarters to-morrow (Thurs- day) evening, and will march down to St. Gabriel's Hall to witness the presenta- tion of medals to the members of öt. Gabriel's Company, who are entitled to them for the year ending December, 1916. This is always a very interesting func- tion, and Major Donaldson heartily in-' vites all those interested in the C.L.B. to attend at the above hall to-morrow I evening. I

SUNDAY TRADING PROBLEM
SUNDAY TRADING PROBLEM Morriston Movement Advances Another Step. A mpdin of the representatives of the shurches of Mcrriston which wore recent)y ai pointed for the purposo of suppressing Sunday trading in the borough was held at the Forward Movement Minor Halt on Mon- evening. The ReI". D. l'icton Enn". MA., presided, and was supported by most! of the ministers of the town. It was de. cided that the ministers of the town, to- Ketlior with the representative laymen, be appointed as a deputation to wait upon the Watch Committee. It is hoped that the movement will be ex- tended so as to obtain the support of the hwanBea Welsh and English Free Church Councils, together with the Swansea Sunday Defence League. When the -n'?pcrt of the,to ("ounils is obtinpd, arrangements will be made to form a strong deputation repre- sentative of the various bodies to* make a further appeal to the Watch Committee.
