i SWANSEA. Win. Chappell, aged 19. single, fe- | jeiding at 33, Pottery-road. Swansea, was j found dead in bed on Thursday morning; by the landlord of the Fox and Hound- I-z) n. On Wednesday a picnic party from the (Jreenhill district, arranged by Nt r, Owen, went to ront-Neath-Yauglian. Dinner and tea were partaken of at the local hostelry. Mr. J. Dymond gan-e various selections on the melodeon, which were much appreciated. Some of the Swansea school children are highly indignant at the charge that they go to school sleepy. A boy in one of the upper standards was heard to say that the real position was cluite the reverse, for some of the teachers in his school were yawning practically all day. Pienie parties will have to be on their best behaviour in the future if they wish to enjoy the beauties of Gower. Becently there have been some rowdy scenes at Parkmill, and the language used has boon very objectionable. The, climax was reached a few days ago, when the "powers that be" ordered a party to return home earlier than they intended. The most iw- forunate part of it was that the innocent had to sune:' fur the guilty, as all and sundry had to quit.

NEYLAND. Dr. Dandas, the medical officer of health for the Nevland Urban District, preRented his annual report at the ( monthly meeting of the Council, Mr. J. V. Harriee presiding, and it proved to be of ft rather disquieting nature. He stated that the sinitary condition of the town was only fairly satisfactory, and there had been a great deal of illness, which had been considerably above the average of previous years. In 1915 the number of births was 68. compared with 54 in 1914, and the number (Ji' deaths 49. against 41 in the previous year. The infantile mor- tality had also increaeed from seven to ten. fit, considered, as a medical man, that these figures were full of meaning, ¡' and indicated an alarming situation that it would be foolhardy in the extreme to ignore.
