The lodge was opened for the usual business and aiterwards there was an open lodge for the dinner, about 30 sit- ting down to a substantial repast provided by Bro. Bamford, C'.Treas. The S.Primo, T. G. Price, P.G.Reg., presided. Musical items were rendered by Bros. Templeton, Capt. Griffith, J. Owen, Goode, Primos T. G. Price, A. DaTies, Morris, A. Stott. Bro. Bum ford and Sergeant Wood head acting as accompanist. Tne loyal toasts were hon- oured, and a very enjoyable evening was spent. Mention was made during the speeches of the ambulance cars to be given oy the R.A.O.B., C.L.K., and of the one now doing good work at the front. The driver, a Buf- taio,, was made sergeant on taking the car over, and the military authorities allowed the letters R.A.O.B. C.L.E. to appear on the car in appreciation of the gift. A vote of sympathy was passed with Bro. R. Griffith on tue death of his son, Lieut. Oswald Grif- fith, at the front. BRITISH RED CROSS SOCIETY.—Last Saturday the members of the British Red Cross Society (Bangor Detachment) paraded, in their new uniforms, to oe presented with the certificates gained after passing an ex- amination in home nursing. The presenta- tion was made by Surgeon-General Ellis, who, after compKmcnting the men on their smart appearance, stated that undoubtedly their services would be required before the end of the war, and ho had no hesitation in specially I recommending the Bangor Detachment to the officials of the Red Cross Society at head- quarters. Colonel Reilly (Llandudno) also addressed the men, and remarked that the fame of the Bangor men for proficiency in ambulance work was established throughout North Wales, and great credit was due to them for placing their services at the dis- posal of their country. Mrs H. C. Vincent (commandant of the ladies' detachment) also complimented the men, and hoped they would do all in their power to improve themselves by regular attendance at drill. OGWEN RURAL COUNCIL. I The monthly meeting of the Ogwen Rural Council was held on irnday at the Bangor Workhouse, the Chairman (Rev. Morgan, St. Ann s) presiding. Upon the question of the expenditure, Canon Edwaras (Gwynedd) remarked that the Council must endeavour to keep down the rate-, 'limes, he said, were very hard with farmers. The Chairman: Farmers, I am told, are mating their fortunes, and that it is the best time tney have had for the last fifty years. The price of all farm produce is high. if the farmers arc not niaking their fortunes,, it is their own fault. Clerk (Mr 11. B. Evans) remarked that farmers nere complaining that labour was scarce. The Chairman said that many farm labourers were reported to the County Dis- tress Committee as being out of work. A Jetter was read from Messrs W. Hughes and Son, jjoik butchers, Bangor, complaining of the alleged dangerous state of the road irom Cnpel Graig to Ty'nlon.-The Surveyor stated that he reported upon the state of the ioiid in lúll. The children are received irrespective of creed or locality; need being the determining factor in respect of their admusaion. The children's operetta company had given performances at the Institute and also at the County Theatre in aid of the Belgian Refugees Fund. The football club had a most successful season, 22 second league matches were played, 10 won, 1 drawn, 2 lost. The club finished champions of the second division of Lhe North Wales Coast League. The Boys' Corps had maintained its strength and there were numerous candidates for ad- mi-.?ioN.
