The report of the managers of the Orders and Handford Steamship Company (Limited, U" to :.he 31st of October, which has been issued states that the accounts show that the working of the company for the past ten months ha.- re>ulted in a prollt of £12,541 12s. Id., equalling interest at the rate of 18! per cent. per annum on the paid-up capital. After deducting cost of winding up old companies, formation and regis- tration of DPW. and travelling expenses, there remains a balance of itl,641 17.. 4d. The managers had authority to issue debenture bond, to :he value of £8,5JQ, but by tiding surplus profits to the extent of £1.100 they have been able to limit this issne to £ 7,400. and have in'. further redeemed 99?)3, so hit the present total debenture liability >tanrl, at £6,500. In addition, they have paid £2,000 on account of a new 1ea mer. The managers recommend be declaration of a dividend at the rate of 10 per cent, per annum, free of Inceme-tix. of which 5 per cent, has already been paid to the end of June, leaving 3s. 4d. per share now for distribution,- absorbing £2.7:xJ 16s. 8d., and that the balance of 11.689 16s. 8d. be carried forward. Vnder the advice of the superintending engineer, it Wa con. sidered d{"3ir\b:e to dispose of the steamship Jt.osa.rio. and this steamer was recently old to a Danish firm for XII.700 Det. which amount has been placed on deposit at the London and Provincial Bank. To re-place this boat they have bought from the Blyth Shipbuilding Company a new steel screw steamer, to carry about 3.000 tons on a 17ft. 9in. draught. This vessel is to he delivered in January or February next. Paris cheque come, 25.23$, Berlin 2.1.451. (1 31.70, A 14 11-16. There were no bullion operations at the Bank of Engbud. This heing a holiday in India, the Silver Market is very- quiet, and the price of bars is quoted 2611.10.1. for spot and forward delivery. There are no Indian exchange rates for the above reason, but Hong Kong comes 1; 10 15-\6d and Shanghai 2s. 81d. Rupee Paper leped 6ii—63. The Bank Return shows an expansion of £ 574.300 in the active circulation, while coin has a.so "een taken for internal requirements, as there is a decrease of 9355,000 in coin and bullion, although the net influx from abroad wa3 £4UCJ. SALVAGE ACTION AT CARDIFF His Honour Judge Owen held a special ittiX at Cardiff County-court on Thursday for åt i trial of the salvage action brought by tta owners, master, and crew of tbe ten tug Lady Lewia, of Cardiff, against the ownm of the iron full-rigged ship Largo Law, d I Glasgow. 2.500 tone. The anchor cable of 1M Largo Law was fouled, and the Norwegitf barque eventually careered on to the it* board side of the vessel.
