BORTH SEA DEFENCE. A special meeting of the Main Roads Committee of the County Council was held at Aberystwyth on Monday under the presidency of Mr David Jenkins, for the purpose of taking into consideration the question of protecting Borth from the inroads ot the sea, — The Cl, rk (Mr Fryer) said he h d written to Mr Case about the matter, and he replied ohj ctitig to the suggestion of the Com- mittee to place jetties on the be 'ch and suggesting that a wattle fence should be constructed parallel with the present seaboard, and that two of the groynes of the Case pattern should be added to the present number at the expense of the County Council.—After con-iderable discussion, Mr Joseph Parry moved that the matter should be deferred to the spring and the proposition was seconded.— Mr C. M. Williams suggested that stones from Ystrad Meurig should be placed on the b-ach and that one or t vo jetties sh, uld be placed on the beach by the County Council.—Mr Morgan, Maen- newydd, sp ke against g dug into great expense, especially against expanding large sums in con- tinuation of the present scheme. Mr Harry Bonsall strongly urged that immediate steps should be taken to protect Borth from the mercy of the waves. (Laughter.) Borth was in constant danger from the sea in its present defenceless state, and to his mind the best method of defence presenting itself at the present time was the Case system and j therefore he was ftrongiy in favour of supporting Mr Case's scheme.—Mr D, C. Roberts was in I favour of leaving the matter in the hands of the j Surveyor. He suggested that the latter should do all he could towards protecting the county roads, but that he should interfere as little as possible with Mr Case's -,cheme,-This suggestion was ultimately adopted. Consideration of the best means of spending the jE150 reCJmrnended by the County Council for the protection of Borth was deferred to the spring.
